I was doing tabata at home for years (body weight exercises). Its alright but its hard to train all muscles. I ended up being strong at some things but weak in other muscles. My arms were big but shoulders small, as an example. But thats also because I mostly did pushups.

Just a two cent ramble on this. Dumpthoughts.

There can be a mental shortcut to say “instead of bar exercise x I will do y calisthenic progression” because the work or movement is similar. Most calisthenic development (again, just my exp) conditions your joints and muscles to be resistant to leveraging forces, rather than in-line forces, so tissue development is specific to the direction and force of the leverage, more so than a given muscle’s overall work capacity.

It’s great if you need to train for that kind of strength and durability, but if muscle appearance (bigness) and work capacity are what someone is after, I suspect that many people will have faster and more easily maintainable results through other exercise disciplines, and be less prone to plateau and injury in the process.

I’ll have to look into that. I do weights, but I was looking for something for a nice morning workout.

I have some excellent advice then. :) I was doing this exercise for many years at home, every second day:

        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BkS1-El_WlE&t=37

I couldnt even do the full thing the first few weeks. But it made me very strong.

Try it and let me know your thoughts and if you made it through it!

Wonder why all recent posts are so downvoted?

Oh I know why they are all downvoted. Because many people on Lemmy identify themselves by their politics and since I’m not Democrat, they follow me around and downvote everything.

I’m used to it and it doesn’t bother me. Just sad for them.

Yeah, he kinda proved my point, didn’t he? I posted an article about calisthenics in this calisthenics community. And the guy comes in here and talks about politics and calls me an idiot. LMAO

For some people on Lemmy, they make politics their identity. And if ya happen to disagree with them, they remember, follow ya around and just keep calling you names. Regardless of what community you’re in.

Some people take Lemmy way too seriously. As the guy’s posts show.

I’m just as confused about it as you are. It’s strange.

I would say your posts get downvoted because you are an idiot.

Yeah? How so? Because I didn’t vote the way you do? Nice namecalling…

It’s less about namecalling and more about finding an accurate descriptor.

Dude, this is a calisthenics community. I posted a calisthenics article. But because you’re mad about me not voting the same way as you MONTHS ago, ya came to this calisthenics community, decided to talk politics and call me names.

That says WAY more about you, than it does me.

One of the rules of this community, which you have broken: Kindly be empathetic and kind to others.

90% of your posts are designed to go against the community you lovingly adore and participate in,

I don’t “design” anything. I post links to news articles. If you don’t like them, don’t read them. It’s that simple. I also haven’t called you names.

Not everyone thinks the same as you do when it comes to politics. That’s also why we have a president that you don’t like. Lots of people disagreed with you. Get over it.

That has nothing to do with me, or calisthenics.

The fact that you can’t move on, or refrain from calling pepole names, shows just how sad your life is.

You went on a political rant in a freakin’ calisthenics community! LMAO

I’ll keep posting wherever I want to, not matter how mad you are about a president you didn’t vote for. None of that was my fault.

Name calling again. Breaking the rules of this community again. Ignoring that this is a calisthentics community again.

                  Reported for trolling.
