The US House of representatives is preparing to vote next week on a resolution that would deem “Free Palestine” to be “an antisemitic slogan.”
If anybody votes against this, they’ll say they voted to support Colorado terrorist attack.

Double plus bad
Gabe Evans is a fucking loser that barely won that district… but read this thing. Don’t just take the headline at face-value, cause that’s also wrong.
Read the fucking thing. Here it is again: https://acrobat.adobe.com/id/urn:aaid:sc:US:d2810458-ed0c-4ba8-9bb6-185c18b7c95c?viewer!megaVerb=group-discover
Again, fuck Gabe Evans but this headline is sensationalist bullshit. Read the thing.
For the lazy:
Resolved, That the House of Representatives– (1) condemns Mohammed Sabry Soliman and his antisemitic terrorist attack on peaceful demonstrators supporting the release of the hostages held by Hamas; (2) prays for the quick healing of the victims of Mohammed Sabry Soliman’s antisemitic terrorist attack; (3) affirms that free and open communication between State and local law enforcement and their Federal counterparts remains the bedrock of public safety and is necessary in preventing terrorist attacks; and (4) expresses gratitude to law enforcement officers, including U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement personnel, for protecting the homeland. <all>
This is embarrassing, but i don’t know how resolutions work and I was looking at the same thing and scratching my head.
Is it that along with resolution 1, you area agreeing to the second paragraph here:
So it’s this a “therefore” situation or a wrong headline and interpretation from news agencies? I have no idea.
I was going off this: https://www.congress.gov/bill/119th-congress/house-resolution/485/text/ih?format=txt
I realize how my post can be a bit misleading now. I put up a link to his rough draft, and the one that’s in Congress doesn’t actually resolve shit.
Getting it out while I still can: Free Palestine!
@Feathercrown US is the only country on earth that prosecutes it’s citizens for criticizing anoter country and call for freedom of a third.
it puts a whole new meaning to "land of the free’
Have you heard of Germany?
What about Germany?
German politicians and media are absolutely bloodthirsty psychos, they will go at any length to shield the Zionists and make sure they’ll be able to finish their genocide. Plus the whole Iran thing backing Israel‘s illegal attack while being all "Woman Life Freedom“.
Yeah why are you telling me though I’m aware
Ermagerd, the courts struck down our law as completely contravening freedom of speech! The courts must be abolished!
Not abolished, just uncorrupted. Which… might look like abolishment for a time.
@ikidd what?
These laws are performative. They know they’ll be struck down, they just put them in so they can point at them to justify authoritarian policy going forward.
In idiomatic english, the “ermagerd” signifies a mockery of stupidly saying ’oh my god’ followed by equally stupid conclusions.
As someone who is Jewish this is insanity.
I SAY DEATH TO THE FASCISTS AND THE ZIONIST TYRANTS, I WANT NO MORE OF THE LIES
DEATH TO THE TYRANTS
DEATH TO REACTION
DEATH TO DECEIT
I’m Jewish, technically Israeli. and after what I witnessed in my years there:
FREE PALESTINE
FROM THE RIVER TO THE SEA
DEATH TO APARTHEID
I have visted the occupation, in my time there I saw inhuman evils and indescribable horrors
DEATH TO OCCUPATION
DEATH COLONIALISM
DEATH TO GENOCIDE
silly leftists, free speech is for racists
Old Soviet Joke.
Two agents meet in a bar in Germany on the eve of the collapse of the Berlin Wall. The CIA agent says to the KGB agent, “Why do you continue to support the Soviet Union? You have no freedom in your country. Come to the United States. In our country, we can criticize our leaders. I can say ‘Death to Ronald Reagan’ and nobody will stop me.”
The KGB agent shakes his head, smiling. “Why would I want to travel all the way to America in order to say that? In Moscow, we also say ‘Death to Ronald Reagan’ whenever we please.”
Another one: A CIA agent and a KGB agent meet at a bar after talking for a while the KGB agent says to the CIA agent „You know one thing we really admire back in the USSR is your propaganda it’s really top notch“ the CIA agent looks confused and asks, „What propaganda?“
It’s interesting, because Americans will be laughing at an entirely different interpretation of the joke, like “lol the Soviets think American reality is American propaganda because our lives are so great.”
Reminder that the KKK still hasn’t been outlawed.
@Rom that is free speech and protected by being white.
Two words
Congress can deem whatever they want, I’m gonna keep saying Free Palestine until Palestine is free.
That’s fucked up and unconstitutional (not that it matters to Trumo and co) but I will say it FREE PALESTINE!!! and for good measure FUCK ISRAEL FUCKING NAZIS.
Now I am going go touch some grass, I am done with these fucking racist fascist.
We are really turning into 1920s red scare horror in the US.
Both liberal and fascists are united to crush the left. This time by hiding under antisemitism.
they’re not bothering to hide it because liberals and facists don’t bother to look it up; aoc and bernie both voted for the last time something like this showed up and i bet that they’re going to do it again.
I’m trying to understand your perspective from your comments. Do you not believe antisemitism is real? Or increasing?
I believe they are. I also believe genocide in Gaza is bad. I’m a liberal. Just trying to understand why you’re a leftist and I’m supposedly not.
Antisemitism =/= antizionism.
Trying to conflate these 2 positions is a shameless strategy by zionists to justify their shameless atrocities. Not to mention that palestinians are literally semites, the actually indigenous people of the region.
Liberalism is the ideological superstructure of Capitalism, Leftists oppose Capitalism and support Socialism. Everyone believes anti-semitism is real, but since the Liberal status quo needs Israel as a US millitary base in the Middle East, liberals and fascists are joining hands to throw those supporting Palestinian Liberation under the bus.
Liberalism and fascism are both the ideological superstructures of capitalism, just under different circumstances, liberalism in plenty and fascism in crisis. Both are build upon Capitalism as the base, and as such are more similar than they are different, and the differences are explained by the sharpened contradictions in Capitalism leading to more violent repression. In other words, fascism is the ugly face under the mask of liberalism, and Capital takes off the mask and puts it back on depending on its needs.
Liberals are not leftists
@blazeknave omg another asshole coming with some BS to waste time.
I have neither time or interest to repeat what I have said a million time to another idiot who ask a stupid question on a post completely unrelated to the question.
Maybe if you weren’t such a fucking prick, you wouldn’t push away prospective comrades. Big fucking tent you got there boss. FYI those weren’t 5 to 12 million socialists this weekend. And the only reason I stopped identifying as a socialist, then a dem soc, then leftist, is bc of your fucking purity test bullshit. Go ahead and delete this and silence my voice and perspective like every fucking open minded leftist on this site. You’re pathetic. I’ve been in the movement for almost 30 years, have literally bled for this democracy, had guns ground into my temple, close range rubber bullet wounds, burns from tear gas canisters. Fuck. You. Your exclusionary crap is gross and you’re not going to have a seat at the table on the other side of all this. Useful idiots buying into the dichotomy of the oligarchs, pointing fingers at the other 99% while we all get rolled on. This country’s culture reflects its government. You’re not outside of it. You just bunch everyone else on the opposing side of you and recreate the same polarized dichotomy. You will never internalize a word of this bc you’re closed minded arrogant pricks who deserve the disdain of actual working class people. Kinda like the DNC and their old base… You don’t actually care about people with empathy and compassion. Just the next iteration of Bernie Bros. And fuck off, I have always voted for him and left candidates up and down the ballot except general presidential elections, for literally decades. I helped primary Pelosi bc I’m apparently too left for fucking San Francisco. But I’m “another idiot with a stupid question.” I am so sick of you fake fucks. Go get angry about it instead of reflecting like a little baby living in mommy’s basement. You’re not a fucking hero. You live in an echo chamber. As bad as the military pointing guns at the very neighbors they’re supposed to protect in spite of their differences.
Both liberal and fascists are united to crush the left. This time by hiding under antisemitism.
What? Where are the republicans who are creating this, voting for this, and not stopping trump in any fashion? This seems like a weird thing to say. Maybe you made a typo?
I think the implication is that the repubs are the fascists.
I’ve never heard of a republican being called a liberal though. I’ve seen memes with “libtards”, “libtears,” etc. That to me says liberals aren’t republicans.
I’ve never heard of a republican being called a liberal though.
US casual political rhetoric is all kinds of screwed. In political science terms, plenty of Republicans are conservative liberals, Libertarians are essentially classical liberals, and the people you’re used to calling liberals are social liberals, aka progressive liberals. The USA is [still…] a liberal democracy, one of the many types of democracy.
I don’t know how you’ve been on Lemmy for two years and are hearing this for the first time. Previously:
Liberalism has a definition, which Marxists (and still many liberal Europeans) have never forgotten, though thanks to red scare purges and two cold wars, others have. Now, in Orwellian fashion, “liberalism” and “socialism” are floating signifiers, so we have liberals like Sanders calling themselves socialists, despite never calling for abolishing private ownership of the means of production.
Wikipedia: socialism: Socialism is an economic and political philosophy encompassing diverse economic and social systems characterised by social ownership of the means of production, as opposed to private ownership.
Wikipedia: liberalism: Liberalism is a political and moral philosophy based on the rights of the individual, liberty, consent of the governed, political equality, right to private property and equality before the law.
“Private property,” a.k.a. “the means of production.”
What people in the US usually call “conservative” and what they call “liberal” are both liberal. Fascists in the Republican party aside, both it and the Democratic party are liberal parties. And liberalism and fascism have more in common than most people realize.
You might want to look at other comments in this thread:
@pelespirit blue MAGA attacking anti genocide and pro Palestinians, just like thy did about Ralf Nader or Jill Stein for the Fuck up of their policies.
They have voted for every anti Palestinian and pro genocide legislation and program GOP put ahead of them.
and
@pelespirit Demonrats and rethuglicans must all be vanquished. Yeah Jill Stein’s pretty lame but I find I agree with you and other supporters on 90% of issues so it’s chill
What about those comments? The Palestinian genocide has been bipartisan, aided and abetted by both Biden and Trump. And on the campaign trail, Harris created no daylight between herself and Biden on the issue.
@pelespirit @davel Lmao I thought that Jill Stein guy you were mentioning was you. Keep being a weird little Zionist snitch it won’t make political opposition to fascism in the US real. None of you people are serious.
They’re not calling republicans liberals, they’re calling republicans fascists
@Amnesigenic @pelespirit Yeah I’m saying they’re both fascists but also that conservatism is liberalism. Western factions have a bunch of annoying terminology. Like “leftists” or “the left” being the dems to a lot of people. Or tje british labour party @pelespirit @palestine
@pelespirit @AlexanderTheDead Neoconservatism is actually a branch of economic liberalism
This just seems like a way to confuse the labels and cause infighting even if it’s somewhat correct. Like when republicans claim to be the party of Lincoln, they’re trying to step back from from their bad choices and racism so they can get reelected.
Yes, that was the purpose of the curated distinction. These labels were understood in the past and intentionally muddied to disrupt unity against them.
So now, for example, instead of a liberal party and a labor party, you have 2 liberal parties. One who identifies as “liberal” while the other identifies as “conservative” but they ultimately serve the same purpose.
They want to pass the narrative that liberalism isn’t a conservative ideology and vice versa because that serves their purposes. They want people to fight over which brand of liberalism they prefer, not whether they want liberalism at all.
@pelespirit Please don’t engage in guesswork based on American political mythology. https://annas-archive.se/md5/67557b8f7b42be96aa9a10ef865fd1db
Yeah, I’m not sure how you’re confused by anything being said right now. You could have said “both are fascist” or something if that’s the point you wanted to make. What you said didn’t make any sense. You said “where are the republicans” when they were being mentioned. Idk. Weird. Maybe a typo or something.
Historically, the moderates in the United States have always been against the left.
A lot of United States moderates (liberals) support the genocide . I understand the majority of liberals are against the mass murder and war crimes. But it ain’t peanuts for those who do support it. See, for example, the original topic here: at least half the Democratic congresspeople will vote for this.
It’s really easy to get these all mixed up if one is left leaning.
The problem with America is that it has multiple flavors of fascist-like behavior, and a limited vocabulary in modern slang to be able to distinguish these with names.
So I can understand when liberals are called fascists, even if it confuses people.
@pelespirit blue MAGA attacking anti genocide and pro Palestinians, just like thy did about Ralf Nader or Jill Stein for the Fuck up of their policies.
They have voted for every anti Palestinian and pro genocide legislation and program GOP put ahead of them.
Lol land of free speech
Free speech protections are still in place, and this is why they are important. This resolution can’t prevent people from saying it, just signals that the current house of representatives wants to.
I’m not saying they couldn’t be stronger. There is a huge problem with abusing deportations this way, and other forms of legislating speech by enforcement. But please consider how much worse things can get, and what barriers still remain between here and there. That it isn’t a crime to say “Free Palestine”, that it isn’t a simple matter of declaring it a racist slogan to make it a crime, does mean something.
But please consider how much worse things can get, and what barriers still remain between here and there.
The barriers are largely logistical. And I believe Trump’s allies in Silicon Valley are closing the gap between what they want and what they can practically achieve.
That it isn’t a crime to say “Free Palestine”
If you can be targeted, arrested, and deported for doing a thing, it is a crime in every way that matters.
I guess its nice they didn’t subject him to torture, indefinite detention, or summary execution. But given how many people are being sent to international black sites and concentration camps, that’s hardly a given.
The question isn’t whether things can get worse. The question is whether there are any avenues left for things to get better. I’m increasingly pessimistic, given the current state of play.
If you can be targeted, arrested, and deported for doing a thing, it is a crime in every way that matters.
To the extent that this does not apply to citizens at scale, there are many more people who are not effectively silenced. If they pass laws that are upheld and able to effectively silence everyone, that would be objectively a big step towards crushing dissent. There are relatively recent laws by conservative states attempting to regulate social media that have been blocked for 1st Amendment reasons. I don’t see a reason to consider the legal barriers useless, they pretty clearly matter a lot here.
And I believe Trump’s allies in Silicon Valley are closing the gap between what they want and what they can practically achieve.
We’re here, on a network not controlled by those companies. Free speech protections are a big part of what makes that possible.
Peaceful protests are being quashed by the literal US military/national guard. There are videos of police specifically targeting people with signs/flags they don’t like with “less lethals”.
Before that campus protests calling for an end to genocide were quashed by local police.
People who attend either of these protests are being jailed and/or deported.
“Free speech” is a myth.
Meanwhile, literal nazis are allowed to say “Blood and soil!” or “Jews will not replace us!” and the House will say “There’s good people on both sides.”
so a slogan, that involves a semitic country with actual semitic roots, is antisemitic? Can’t make this shit up.
Double down on that genocide, bitches, and the news/public will track the names of the ones that do.
Nah, the news won’t do that. They’re all owned by oligarchs who are responsible for the current state of the world. Corporate news is not on our side.
No one is coming to save us, we have to do it ourselves.
GOP Rep Introduces Resolution Labeling ‘Free Palestine’ Slogan as ‘Anti-Semitism’ - Activist Post (2025-06-15)
>> Colorado GOP Congressman Gabe Evans introduced a non-binding resolution on Friday that labels ‘Free Palestine’ as “an antisemitic slogan.” The bill seeks to limit immigration of people who oppose Israel’s illegal occupation of Palestine and Tel Aviv’s genocidal onslaught in the besieged Gaza Strip. The bill is expected to be voted on some time next week.
The bill reads, “Whereas, while shouting ‘Free Palestine,’ an antisemitic slogan that calls for the destruction of the state of Israel and Jewish people, Mohammed Sabry Soliman attacked the peaceful demonstrators with homemade Molotov cocktails.”

https://acrobat.adobe.com/id/urn:aaid:sc:US:d2810458-ed0c-4ba8-9bb6-185c18b7c95c“That’s a funny way to spell “destroy Israel””
Insanity
How many wars and genocides does Israel have to be involved in before “Destroy Israel” becomes a more popular slogan?
Nobody seems shy about saying “Destroy Russia” or “Break up China” or even “Invade Mexico”. Hell, nobody seems shy about saying “Nuke Iran”. Beginning to think there might be some kind of regional political bias to which countries we’re allowed to fantasize about demolishing.
Yeah obviously any countries the old white people hate are oltologivally evil and we can go explode them but if they like them then it’s illegal to disagree. I love living in such a free country
