The “chemtrail” conspiracy is particularly stupid. Like, you’ve got to put effort into your own duncefuckery to make the moronic leaps necessary.

“Jetliners are spraying mind control juice”

Uh huh, so, where on the jetliner is it stored? The belly is full of avionics and baggage compartment, the passenger compartment is full of seats, the wings are full of fuel, the tail has maybe a little void space, but enough to crop dust entire time zones? Can you show me any evidence of a jet aircraft equipped with such a dispersion system?

Oh they’re flying special flights just for this? Okay, can you show me such a flight that obviously isn’t what it says it is? There hasn’t been a single air crew, maintenance tech, parts supplier, chemical plant janitor, etc. come forward about any of this?

Oh it’s mixed straight into the fuel! Okay, so the Vote For Obama juice still works after spending hours to days dissolved in kerosene and PRIST, and then burned in a jet engine. Again, nobody anywhere in the fuel supply infrastructure has said anything about this. There hasn’t been a single Youtube video or Reddit thread about “what are my bosses pumping into the jet fuel?”

I guess they’ve also paid off all the chemical labs that analyze fuel, oil and other fluid samples. Because that’s a thing, aircraft mechanics take samples of engine oil and such and send them to labs for gas chromatography. It’s kinda cool, they’ll send you a report that says “We’re seeing elevated levels of tin and copper consistent with accelerated wear of the intake valve bushings.” Nobody has gotten a report back from a lab like that talking about exotic molecules ?

Why would you bother using jet airliners for this that fly extremely high? Some of the particles dispersed would outright NEVER land, some of them will drift hundreds if not thousands of miles before coming to rest in the ocean or a desert. Why not mix the Vote For Obama juice into diesel fuel to be burned by semi-trucks, down near the ground usually where you can find people? Or into automotive gasoline? Surely you could use much less of the chemical that way because it’s being burned so close to people.

Maybe that’s why Big They are so fucking keen to keep Republicans driving big gas guzzling micropenis trucks around? So that Republican areas get basted with Vote For Obama juice.

Oh, also: There’s tetraethyl lead in aviation gasoline. Added as an octane booster and anti-knock additive, it’s a POTENT neurotoxin that makes people stupid and asocial. The fuel pumps have a big sign on them saying as much. It shows up in those chromatography tests of engine oil…and in fact you can see it. A bucket of used aviation piston engine oil has a dull metallic sheen on the surface from the lead that didn’t make it out of the engine. It’s not burned in the quantities that we burn jet fuel, but piston-powered planes do fly lower and closer to civilization in most cases.

But you can’t care about any of that, you’ve got third generation fetal alcohol syndrome so you’re just scared of the lines in the sky.

      Well…

There is this thing where maybe we could use jetliners to emit a little bit of sulfuric oxides, through their fuel.

The result of that would be a moderate amount of that in the upper atmosphere, which will reflect away some of the solar radiation, like that pollution did back in the 80s and 90s, lowering the global temperatures slightly, and with that the impact of the CO2 crisis that were in.

It’ll produce acid rains but that is the trade off they we might have to make.

SAI could be achieved using existing aircraft injecting aerosols at an altitude of 8 miles high but at this lower altitude three times more aerosol would be needed

      No.

Truck exhaust blows away. They can’t see it anymore. Contrails linger for a while. They can see that.

They can see planes. They can’t see inside planes. Therefore, they can imagine anything they want inside because they can’t verify it themselves.

The things they can’t see anymore are gone. The things they can’t see into contain the worst possible scenario.

And that litter box in schools things for the kid identifying as a cat? The story is ALWAYS about someone else’s schools. They can picture a different school. They can imagine the worst scenario in there.

Just today I learned that the fuel Cessnas use has lead in it, because the engines were developed when lead was in all gasoline and they have not found it worthwhile to certify all of those tens or hundreds of thousands of planes with new engines.

In fact, I was at a fly-in today and there were several Cessnas that were 60 and 70 years old. no unleaded fuel, and no added ethanol, either.

So in the specific case of Cessnas, the first Cessna 172 to require leaded fuel was built in 1977. That was the year they switched from a 6 cylinder Continental O-300 engine to that goddamn 4 cylinder Lycoming O-320 H2AD engine. Bigger displacement, two fewer cylinders, more compression, required leaded fuel.

I gave flight instruction in a new built light sport aircraft equipped with a Rotax 912 engine. Instead of Lycoming and Continental’s 1930’s era tech, BRP-Rotax’s aircraft engines are basically 1980’s motorcycle engines. Water cooled, Nikasil cylinder linings, electronic ignition, constant velocity carburetors or EFI, gear reduction, and they run absolutely fantastic on regular automotive gasoline. No lead.

I cannot think of a reason to use a Corvette engine in an airplane other than “fuck it.”

It’s an issue with machining tolerances of block/cylinder/piston/piston rings, older planes need lead to reduce the piston knock or it could damage itself. Modern engines have much tighter tolerances, but it would mean essentially rebuilding or replacing the whole engine on every piston engine plane. It would be great if we could phase out leaded Avgas but it won’t be going anywhere anytime soon

False! The industry is phasing out leaded gasoline in 2030. California signed a ban on leaded gasoline after 2031 into law. There are some aircraft out there that I wonder what’s going to happen, but a lot of the GA fleet is going to be well supported.

In addition to that, there’s an expansion of the light sport rule in the works which should allow most of general aviation to advance past the 1970’s.

Well if you can see condensed water vapor in open air, it’s most likely nucleating around something. And that something is probably the combustion products from the jet fuel. I don’t know exactly what those are, but burning a lot of other things can produce a whole host of compounds including Polyaromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) that can be rather carcinogenic. And that pollution most likely settles somewhere on the planet surface eventually.

As takeda said in another comment, it might not be worse than more local sources like cars or trains or power plants, but it’s very unlikely to just be water, and probably not healthy.

I’m not saying it’s a deliberate spread of chemicals and it’s certainly not the mind control nonsense that conspiracy lunatics think. No, most combustion products are just waste with no real use. But calling it “just water” or “harmless clouds” can’t be entirely right unless you believe carbon atoms can just disappear.

The logic behind chemtrails is that evil governments or the rich Illuminati elite are intentionally spraying specific chemicals to control population. If argument was ecological impact of burning fuel, then we’d have to ban airplanes, not chemtrails. But that’s not the argument.

Also it’s not water droplets or vapor, it’s most likely crystalized water vapor or droplets. Commercial airplanes fly at around 10km above ground and temperatures can get very low, we’re talking -40°C. It’s literally those videos where someone throws a pot of hot water up in the air outside during cold winter. It instantly turns into a white mist. Hot jet engines, cold atmosphere, burned fuel and vapor during combustion, would you look at that… CHEMTRAILS!

Not to mention weight is incredible luxury metric on airplanes. If conspiracy people think commercial airlines would carry half the fuel on board and replace other half with chemicals for chemtrails, because reasons, yeah, they don’t do that. They actually rather not even fill the fuel tanks all the way if it’s not necessary for the flight and rather do it when airplane touches at the destination and they refuel it there. Because carrying additional weight consumes more fuel, even if that weight is the fuel itself.

So, nothing to do with chemtrails and specifically addresses geo-engineering and weather modification. Cloud seeding is a thing and dispersing particulates to reflect sunlight has also been much discussed. These states simply don’t want it happening in their state.

“Look up in our sky,” Fesi answered.

In an interview, Fesi later said he sees “just tons and tons of cloud seeding” above his backyard and described it as “all of the stripes across the skies.”

This is, unfortunately, the same observation I’ve made in all the chemtrail-beleiving people I know. I zig in discussion, they zag, I realize they’re taking small-scale cloud seeding operations as proof of both contrails being chemtrails and, often enough, humans fueling hurricanes for the leftist agenda. These people also tend to deny human ability to affect the planet’s climate. The underlying logical interpretation of these states’ bills is exactly why they’re upheld, meanwhile, their constituents are still thinking about contrails.

Wait, I thought it was the government that was putting the chemicals in the trails in the first place, and now their making their own actions illegal?

Well, that’s the federal government and these are state governments. Of course not THIS federal government, they mean the other federal government, the shadow government. You know the one that disobeys laws, kills millions of people for financial gain, covers up the pedofilia and drug problems of their membership, ignores the Constitution, and is trying to change the world for their own benefit? Well not that one, the other one that tries to keeps everything functioning, root out corruption, and write rules to try and protect people. THAT shadow government. It’s evil dontchaknow and these new laws will definitely show them that the states won’t stand for it any more!

Florida, Tennessee, and Louisiana are named for working to outlaw chemtrails in the article. Articles like this should be required to list things they have already indicated exist in a small, closed set like this. I want a list of states! Or at least their abbreviations.

How it used to be a fringe thing we can laugh at and dismiss, at a time when scientific documentaries were also entertaining and enlightening.

Geoengineering is absolutely real, and companies are already actively engaging in it.

    https://www.technologyreview.com/2022/12/24/1066041/a-startup-says-its-begun-releasing-particles-into-the-atmosphere-in-an-effort-to-tweak-the-climate/amp/

Don’t be so enthusiastic to shut down conspiracy theorists that you make an equally ignorant claim on the other side of the argument.

I am alarmed at the number of confidently stupid comments in this thread. Obviously didn’t read the article, nor bother to look into the claims. Just ignorant and reflexive denial. I’m not saying I support banning geoengineering (though we do need it strictly regulated), but you all sound just as stupid as the conservative conspiracy theorists saying they’re doing this to turn people gay or some shit.

I really wish people would stop using the existence of geoengineering to offer credence to chemtrail conspiracies. The link you provided has nothing to do with the contrails that we see in the sky every day. You can get binoculars or a high zoom camera and see that the contrails originate just aft of the exhaust nozzles. The 850°C engine exhaust mixes with the freezing cold -50°C air and condenses. In a four engined plane you’ll see 4 trails, in a twinjet you’ll only see two

I really wish people would read the articles they’re commenting on. If you did, you’d know this isn’t talking about contrails. This is specifically about geoengineering.

It seems fairly obvious based on other articles talking about this that the legislation originates from chemtrail conspiracy theories and not actual geoengineering. I will quote some parts

Louisiana Rep. Kimberly Landry Coates stood before her colleagues in the state’s Legislature she warned that the bill she was presenting might “seem strange” or even crazy.

Coates described situations that are often noted in discussions of “chemtrails”

As she urged lawmakers to ban the unsubstantiated practice, she told skeptics to “start looking up” at the sky.

“I’m really worried about what is going on above us and what is happening, and we as Louisiana citizens did not give anyone the right to do this above us

Such bills being crafted is indicative of how misinformation is moving beyond the online world and into public policy.

Chemtrail believers often call chemtrails “geoengineering” as a means of giving their conspiracy theories some credibility. That’s not to say geoengineering isn’t real. I’m saying it’s a term that conspiracy theorists have appropriated to talk about chemtrails without actually mentioning the word chemtrails

See? Another confident moron who didn’t even read the article.

At least eight states, including Florida and Tennessee, have now introduced chemtrail-coded legislation to prohibit “geo-engineering” or “weather modification”.

And? Banning it outright is ridiculous, but absolutely we shouldn’t be letting any company who feels so compelled to geoengineer without oversight.
