No he is a dumb shit. As his minions are. He’s just getting votes because of his extreme populist strategy and wealth (this dumbfuck is still a fucking billionaire and this definitely plays a big role). Most people are just politically illiterate.

I mean would you ever buy something from him personally?

Unfortunately, yes. When he speaks, he uses hypnosis techniques and he truly has no morals, so I can’t hear any deception in his voice. He doesn’t believe anything, so he doesn’t really lie in his fucked up head. So yeah, when he speaks, I put him on fast so I don’t fall for the sing-song voice and the vague slowness of his speech.

I wish I could find the person’s video that was on reddit from his first term. She explained how cult leaders do it and he does it to a tee. It was super old, like from the 60s or 70s, but she could have been talking about trump.

Edit: I fucking found it! I can’t believe how many times I looked for this video. Ironically, I have it at 2x speed and I still understand what she’s saying. You can watch the entire thing or start at around 23 minutes or so to get the trump effect. Here we go folks.

      Transcript of portion:

In order to hypnotize someone you don’t have to do like stage magicians of swing watches or have a person look at the Eraser on a pencil or stare at a spot on the wall. You can do it by controlling your voice by doing as I’m doing now. Get it a bit more sing songy and chanty and you can watch people’s breathing and pace your phrasing so that you can start cooling them down and getting them into a light trance.

And then, most trance induction that’s used by various cults, then utilizes guided imagery in which the speaker appears to be telling a parable, repeating a verse over and over again, telling a story of his childhood in a soothing rhythmic way, in order to get the person into a trance state.

Why would a cult leader want to get a person tranced out a bit. What hypnosis and trance induction does, is it gets your attention and my attention highly, highly focused so we don’t have critical thoughts. We don’t judge what we’re doing. We just trust the person that’s giving the visual imagery and the relationship, and it makes us much more malleable and suggestible in that state.

So that, once the leader gets us into a light trance, then the speech, the sermon, the message that they put in. has a lot more impact than had they done it without doing the trans induction first. So that’s why they do it. It makes us more malleable, more suggestable, and it shuts out that critical mind chatter that we have.

Such as, while you’re watching this video, you’re asking questions and saying, “I wonder if she means…?”, “I wonder if she’s going to get to…?” If you were being tranced out, that kind of questioning, thinking, gets put aside. And you’re just listening to the voice, the image. And then, what the words say to you you’re much more likely to incorporate into your thinking.

I watch most videos at double speed. What’s wild to me is that, usually, this makes the speaker sound much more clever. With him though, it makes him sound dumber.

The fuck are you talking about? Hypnosis techniques are bullshit pseudoscience, except in very specific clinical settings with trained therapists. And even then, it isn’t foolproof. You cant actually hypnotize people like in the movies.

Hypnosis absolutely works, but not on everyone, maybe only few, and not anything like people think. I’ve seen it done, copied it, got the same results on two different women. Maybe I’ll try my wife tonight! I could go on for awhile, but one test almost knocked me over, literally.

Hypnotized my gf, copied the stage guy’s initial technique, told her she was stiff as a board, like a statue. Tipped her over and fuck me, barely caught her.

Now if you think that’s bullshit, I’d invite you to replicate it any way you choose. But here’s the rub, your subject most hold perfectly still while held at a 45° angle to the floor. No muscle strain, no quivering, LOL, as if anyone can do that consciously.

There was other amusing tricks. Told her Star Wars was playing on the wall. She happily watched for a couple of minutes, “So, what’s going on now?” She described a scene I had totally forgotten. I should mention this was in 1990, we had only seen it in theaters or a rare viewing on broadcast TV. None of us could afford a VCR. :)

Or the time I took her back before she was born. OHHH NO! I was trying some Bridey Murphy shit, different times. She got confused looking, mumbled a little, suddenly spouted, “SNOO!” Startled hell out of me! We had no clue WTF that was. Later her sister related a story about a snow storm when she was 2 and that’s what she called it.

Plenty of other anecdotes you may write off, but try the statue trick. See how it goes.

EDIT: Back to the post above, hypnotism works exactly as OP describes. That is the exact way to get someone in a suggestible trance.

Oh! Shit. Sorry. You were looking to debunk me with some clever word twisting.

Since your brain takes on average 200ms to even process visual input, you’re, at a minimum, 200ms behind “true reality”. What’s your point? How is this at all relevant to the conversation?

Hypnosis is actually quite useful for digging up old memories that the subject doesn’t consciously remember.

Edit: ITT a bunch of people who don’t know anything about hypnosis other than unrealistic depictions in media.

I’ve all but given up talking about it. Yes, it’s real. Yes, it works. No, not like Hollywood has shown us.

I still find the “tipping” anecdote to be the most convincing. Guess you would have to experience it to believe. When the stage guy did it to her, him and his assistant placed her head on a chair with her ankles on another, and she was perfectly still and calm.

We could put that down to stage tricks I missed, but having done similar IRL, well, I experienced it. Going to hypnotize my wife and video the thing.

My younger siblings were definitely aware of funny family anecdotes that happened before they were born. It’s not unreasonable that the memory she was recalling was a recounting of that story.

Just because Trump is dumb doesn’t mean he doesn’t have the ability to manipulate a large percentage of the population with his public speaking. It’s more than the public liking the hate because otherwise Desantis would have won the primary.

They find willing people who want to believe them. Having degrees doesn’t mean someone doesn’t want to think for themselves, which is why a lot of very knowledgeable scientists keep their faith and religions.

Cult leaders filter out the people who don’t go along with their shit as well. They don’t just go up to random people on the street and hypnotize them to become followers.

I have no clue how you come to that conclusion. He is grating in almost every way especially his voice. I don’t think I’ve ever heard him say anything that was genuinely kind… he only talks in absolutes and gives no details. To me that means he’s just pulling shit out of his ass, which coincidentally is what his mouth looks like when he talks. He’s so disingenuous that I don’t know how anyone believes anything he says. On top of all of that he just straight up lies all the time about verifiable things, and even after it’s pointed out to him he still continues the lie.

What’s hilarious to me is that so many people I talk to refuse out-of-hand to consider that he’s using a hypnotic technique, but also point out themselves about how they’re mystified about how he’s able to influence so many followers. Not only does the hypnosis hypothesis have a fair amount of scientific and historical support, it’s a better explanation than, “It doesn’t make any sense!”

I don’t think Trump is purposefully using those techniques, he just found what works and repeats it, likely too dumb to know he’s even doing it.

Hypnotized two gf’s back in the day. Had surprising results. People writing off the notion either think there’s magical hoodoo or believe in Hollywood hypnosis.

I recommend 2x speed the video, you can still understand her. She talks about in the beginning how one of the former cult leaders said that they were surprised about how easy it is to get people to do what they want.

He may have figured out what works, you’re right. There’s a reason he read hitler’s book. I’m not about read it to see if it has any of his techniques in it.
