We also need our healthcare to be a little better. It was really battered after all the ignorant anti-vax hillbillies made up the bulk of the people deathly sick from covid AND bullying the doctors trying to to save them. Doctors realized life is too short for dickwads and retired en masse.

Right now our scumbag cons are trying to make it more and more mercenary as they go, and that’s tougher to prevent with so many roles going unfilled.

So we really need that built back up and then we’d be proud to show it off.

We don’t need their Cars, we don’t need their Energy, we don’t need their Lumber, we don’t need ANYTHING they have, other than their friendship, which hopefully we will always maintain," Trump wrote.

Hey, Canada, seriously, you should just halt all exports to the US at the border if that’s his position. Call our bluff. Help our imbecilic government and my deeply idiotic countrymen Find Out. I am being extremely serious.

Edit: jesus fucking christ. From the NYT briefing on their meeting, as it is happening right fucking now:

President Trump and Prime Minister Mark Carney of Canada praised each other in the Oval Office during the first meeting between the two leaders since Mr. Carney won a stunning election on an anti-Trump platform. Mr. Trump struck a conciliatory tone, saying he had “a lot of respect” for Mr. Carney, who praised the president for his “relentless focus on the American worker.” But after Mr. Trump talked about his calls for Canada to be the 51st state, Mr. Carney said “some places are not for sale.” Mr. Trump did not concede: “Never say never.”

Fuck my entire life, I hate this timeline so much

      We literally need their energy…

They can flip a switch and large parts of northern US loses power, and it’s not like we can just flip the switch back, because the switch is in Canada.

Fucking flip it, stop normalizing trump and start treating him like he treats people, he’d have flipped the switch and broken it off already if the situation was reversed.

I say this as an American; other countries need to stop protecting us from our bad decisions or as a country we’ll keep making bad decisions. There has to be consequences

I don’t think Canada wants to hurt so many innocent people because Trump runs his mouth.

Cutting electricity doesn’t only mean it’s stopping kids from playing Fortnite or something. It also means cutting it from infrastructure, hospitals, hospices and many other healthcare facilities, water pumping and treatment, traffic control and so on. Trump won’t suffer because any of that happening, random people will.

Sure some people may have voted for Trump but a whole lot didn’t. They don’t deserve that.

Also depending on where in the north it is, perhaps people who voted against this. Punishing new York for the sins of Pennsylvania seems counter productive.

You’re right. It’s part of why we continue to play this game instead of pulling the bandaid off. Our reality is built around so many damn Catch-22s that we’re paralyzed to make rational choices anymore.

If that’s true, that’s backwards logic.

Because Trump is hurting a lot more people, and while unlikely if his voters feel the pain they will realize it’s not working. Congress can hold trump accountable, but they won’t until well into the “find out” phase.

So our traditional allies shielding the American people from our own government may seem like the ethical move, but only if focused on today and ignoring the future…

Which is how we ended up here.

Long term, America needs consequences yesterday, but we’ll have to settle for today

          Quick edit:

Sure some people may have voted for Trump but a whole lot didn’t. They don’t deserve that.

As close as majorities are, a handful of seats getting pressured is all it would take. You think there ain’t a single red district getting their power from Canada?

You think Montana is a deep blue area?

          https://connect2canada.com/2022/04/mapping-the-canada-u-s-energy-relationship-2/

It really doesn’t take many people to switch to take congress back, but if we never pressure them, they’ll never fold.

As disgusting as it is, he’s a lot more likely to make progress with some narrowly constructed flattery than with overt criticism no matter how well deserved.

Trump is a narcissistic manbaby who would do damn near anything just to satisfy his own ego. It makes him particularly vulnerable to manipulation, and at the same time it makes it virtually impossible for him to take criticism without throwing a tantrum and doubling down on whatever shitty thing he’s doing.

I mean he called Trump transformational which I think anyone with a brain will understand but his supporters will see as a compliment.

There was some very carefully constructed language being used here which I think is a good first step.

It should also be noted that Carney said ‘Never’ five times when Trump said Never say Never but I don’t think Carney was visible on the American broadcast.

    Dont need their cars

    • Ontario makes the high precision parts of Ford and GM vehicles that literally can’t be made in the US or Mexico because workers there dont have the skill.

    Dont need their lumber

    • The US lumber lobby has spent 20 years trying to break the lumber industry here, for the express purpose pf getting unfettered access to Canadian logs.

    Don’t need their water

    • Little Bitch is more than old enough to remember that access to Canadian water was one of the sticking points that very nearly derailed the original NAFTA, to the point that several of the provisions are designed such that if they could get any access to our water, they would immediately get access to all of our water

I watched the whole interview and holy shit the amount of mindless babbling coming out of Trumps mouth about the basically nothing was ridiculous. This man spent a good 5 - 10 minutes complaining about Obama, Biden, and Newsom and barely even let Carney speak. I’m glad he at least got to mention that “51st state” thing at least and shut that down immediately.

Diahrreal verbal slop. He’s (Trump) a clearly disconnected from reality crushed brain. He’s disgusting as a living ad for dementia disabling capabilities. He believes his own lies.
