When detectives searched the mother’s home, they found a recently fired gun and the officer’s service radio in plain view on the kitchen counter, a police report says. There was no secure gun case, nor a holster present in the area, the report continued.

The cop at my daughter’s former middle school left his gun on the sink in the school bathroom. Thankfully, the kid that found it told the office. Amazingly, he got fired for it, not just paid administrative leave.
Where do you live that middle schools have cops and carry guns? My kids attend the utmost progressive hellscape that is Berkeley Unified School District and I feel like any cops at all in middle school or lower would be protested harder by the parents than the students.
Yep. All the middle schools in my city here have an officer assigned to them as a full-time position. The high schools get patrol officers to work there part time.
Aside from crime being too high, Indy isn’t all that bad. It’s got some good stuff going for it, especially things like the Vonnegut Library and Newfields, but there are way too many minuses in Terre Haute over the pluses and I would not live here if I had the choice.

Putting a gun on a sink in the first place is so beyond dumb. He would have had to remove it from a secure place in his holster to do that, which would be dumb even if he was in a stall dropping trou to take a huge dump, but extra dumb when in a school. Nice to hear they actually got rid of at least one dangerous person before they could do something irreversibly tragic.
