Yep, you make some good points. Young people, and Lemmy espeically, seem to think that going to a protest, destroying other peoples property, changing and waving anarchy flags is gonna make people sit up and listen!

It doesn’t. Most of the property that get’s destroyed is just fellow hard-working innocent citizens, that now no longer agree with the protestors. Kinda like the one where I saw two white protestors stopping traffic and a black lady gets out of her car, walks up to them, and says she needs to get to work because she has children.

The white (and wealthy by the way) protestors, look at her and say, “nah.” One of them, when so far as to mock her and say “Oh no…your missing work! Ohhhhh.” and laughed and shrugged. So guess what" They just made someone who was an ally in their cause, now hate them and the protest.

To your point, some in protests have nothing to lose. But many in these protests are actually elite people who are so well off, they aren’t affected by the events anyway. But “protesting” makes them feel good. Well if they really cared, they’d be working hard EVERY DAY, working from the inside, working with politicians, etc to make change and not just stopping traffic to protest a president they didn’t like.

After the protests, they go home, post some social media, then reflect back on their awesome ivy league college days. Meanwhile the poor black woman, gets to work late, has to be afraid that her boss will fire her and she won’t be able to pay rent.

Lemmy is the same way. The overwhelming majority of Lemmy’s are very well off, college-educated, have great jobs, but feel they need to go burn some cars because they hate Trump. I knjow they well off, because they’ll bitch that their job only pays 90K a year and they think they are worth twice that. Not realizing that the average salary of an american is way way lower than that.

It’s all feel-good instagram karma whoring. None of it is changing anything. And the rich continue to get richer.

People want some upvotes on Lemmy, so they’ll happily call other poster that disagree them, “nazis” but they won’t actually do shit when it comes to making real lasting change. Nah, they’d rather be keyboard warriors, play playstation and call people nazis. Meanwhile most people go into work, scared they won’t be able to pay rent, and hope that “protests” don’t make them late for work that day.

tl;dr: If people really want to make change, then get into lines of work to create that change. Wearing a man-bun and a “Vegans are Hot” hemp-woven shirt, while holding up traffic, doesn’t create change. Working in the public sector, grinding with community leaders and politicans, getting jobs as police, EMT’s, social workers, etc creates change.
