Weren’t people already fucking with waymo cars before the whole ice thing even started.
(This comment is neither for or against this act.)
Yeah, but they’ve been making a bigger show of it lately. What people (and much of Lemmy) doesn’t realize though is that being violent and destroying shit doesn’t actually make people more sympathetic to your cause; it actually works against you.
That’s not even counting into the fact that people are destroying their own neighborhoods and the neighborhoods of working class people that may have agreed with them before the violence.
Right.
Edit sorry I kind of went into a rant.
When George Floyd protests started I thought that left and right we’re going to come together. I thought that the people in the street getting wild was just one part of the process, they were ready to fuck with anyone moving against it. I thought that was what people like me with nothing in life and nothing to lose, should be doing. I thought that was one faction of the “revolution” that was supposed to be happening. I thought teachers, professors, businessmen, politicians, people with something to lose would be there to reconstruct a foundation to move forward with. I thought that was their role. I thought cops and military would start calling out the crooked ones. I thought street gangs would man up to their bragadocious claims and bring guns to protect the wild people rioting. …but now in the end I honestly feel like it’s manufactured. I feel like it was specifically manifested by a darker side of an entity that socially constructs and manipulates society for control. Like a false flag to forward dark dreams for a controlled society. Like America let’s these things grow because they can utilize it politically and socially, because dividing and conquering is a tool for them to gain more control, and even when things look like chaos to a common citizens the government knows it can be squashed, but they use what they can from the situations regardless if it hurts individuals. Nothing feels like anything but social manipulation to me anymore. Every little act good or bad is used and sucked dry for profit and social manipulation.
In the end, there is no revolution. There won’t ever be a revolution. We gave humanity away already. if anyone is actually serious they would be planning actual war, they’d be making moves in their life with war in mind. You hate the cops? Become a cop, fuck with it from the inside. This is probably what real sovereign people are doing… Boogaloo boys, 3%ers, and freemasons probably did this… This is how America got the way it currently is… They understood the game and played it, whether you agree with their ideas or not. They are probably using trump like a puppet. It doesn’t matter if trump or Elon or whoever looks crazy because they are disposable to the real cause and their demise for the most part doesn’t even touch the entity that controls them.
I was happy to see, at least from the few videos I saw, that the no kings protests were peaceful.
Yep, you make some good points. Young people, and Lemmy espeically, seem to think that going to a protest, destroying other peoples property, changing and waving anarchy flags is gonna make people sit up and listen!
It doesn’t. Most of the property that get’s destroyed is just fellow hard-working innocent citizens, that now no longer agree with the protestors. Kinda like the one where I saw two white protestors stopping traffic and a black lady gets out of her car, walks up to them, and says she needs to get to work because she has children.
The white (and wealthy by the way) protestors, look at her and say, “nah.” One of them, when so far as to mock her and say “Oh no…your missing work! Ohhhhh.” and laughed and shrugged. So guess what" They just made someone who was an ally in their cause, now hate them and the protest.
To your point, some in protests have nothing to lose. But many in these protests are actually elite people who are so well off, they aren’t affected by the events anyway. But “protesting” makes them feel good. Well if they really cared, they’d be working hard EVERY DAY, working from the inside, working with politicians, etc to make change and not just stopping traffic to protest a president they didn’t like.
After the protests, they go home, post some social media, then reflect back on their awesome ivy league college days. Meanwhile the poor black woman, gets to work late, has to be afraid that her boss will fire her and she won’t be able to pay rent.
Lemmy is the same way. The overwhelming majority of Lemmy’s are very well off, college-educated, have great jobs, but feel they need to go burn some cars because they hate Trump. I knjow they well off, because they’ll bitch that their job only pays 90K a year and they think they are worth twice that. Not realizing that the average salary of an american is way way lower than that.
It’s all feel-good instagram karma whoring. None of it is changing anything. And the rich continue to get richer.
People want some upvotes on Lemmy, so they’ll happily call other poster that disagree them, “nazis” but they won’t actually do shit when it comes to making real lasting change. Nah, they’d rather be keyboard warriors, play playstation and call people nazis. Meanwhile most people go into work, scared they won’t be able to pay rent, and hope that “protests” don’t make them late for work that day.
tl;dr: If people really want to make change, then get into lines of work to create that change. Wearing a man-bun and a “Vegans are Hot” hemp-woven shirt, while holding up traffic, doesn’t create change. Working in the public sector, grinding with community leaders and politicans, getting jobs as police, EMT’s, social workers, etc creates change.
