Theyre not in the clear yet. This type of crazy doesn’t exit your life just the once.

Heck, you’re lucky if you catch them entering back in before they’ve made another exit.

      Bad for the kids…

“I laughed it off as nonsense,” he said. “But she didn’t. She told me to leave, informed our kids about the divorce, and the next thing I knew, I was getting a call from her lawyer.”

Here’s a litmus test to use when deciding to correct someone’s English online: did you understand what they meant?

          Yes? Leave them alone.

No? Ask for clarification, then leave them alone.

A lot of non-native English speakers use online communication to practice and most want to be corrected so they can improve.

A lot of native English speakers make mistakes accidentally, or speak with a dialect and some of them get really angry when people try to correct them.

It’s sometimes tricky to know which is which. The best solution is for everyone to just be kind to each other but…

Not everyone gets offended when they are corrected. When someone corrects my Spanish I presume they are trying to help me rather than put me down.

Assume. Presume implies you have some reason or evidence for that belief.

Edit: I find it hilarious how many people are downvoting me for correcting somebody who has just said they appreciate corrections.

If “having a reason” is ok to use it, then good people existing is a pretty good reason, thus you failed at correcting them.

I think correction is fine, as another comment said it’s a good way to get feedback and learn.

The problem with this comment for me was the condescension and the rudeness.

There are plenty of people, myself included, who prefer to be corrected, because otherwise how will we learn? If nobody corrects us, we’ll keep making the same stupid mistakes.

If someone doesn’t want to be corrected, they are free to ignore it and to continue doing it wrong.

Well…maybe she made him a party favor? Tied him to the bed, and put a blinding hood on him, then injected liquid viagra into his veins every 4 hours, and invited the whole neighborhood over to pass him around. With him never even knowing who he had sex with, and who fucked him in the ass…

See? She made him a favor!

What? It’s already been established that the ex IS crazy. Loraina Bobbitt did far worse, and she wasn’t even crazy…kinda justified actually.

AI tasseography – a form of divination that interprets shapes left by tea leaves (or sometimes coffee grounds or wine sediment) after a cup is drunk.

So. Instead of just, idk, feeding ChatGPT all known details of the SO and maybe a dump of their messages or whatever and actually have a chance of it giving you a proper answer…they… just gave it a pic of a drunk coffee cup‽ Wtf is wrong with people

The (now divorced) couple do have 2 kids so those genes will continue existing well into the future.

Still not sure I entirely believe the story but there are a few other mentions with a bit more details

I’m going to take a risk and leave here the shortcut for Wikipedia’s page on eugenics.

Next I’m going to add that a person acting/navigating their life based off stupidity or delusion incur in an incresead probability of, by their own actions and choices, remove themselves from the population either by isolation, self endangerment or any behavior that for some reasons makes them non eligible as viable partners.

This isn’t about a group being labelled and targeted by another for forceful removal of society.

I think it is wildly inappropriate to try to tell someone that they shouldn’t have kids. Intelligence or looks are not something you can measure are you will always favor people who are like you.

Also the entire idea of Eugenics is complete BS. Trying to bread a human population has no real impact as you would need to commit genocide. Humans are not nearly as simple as a pea plants.

People with currently-known genes for conditions like Tay-Sachs (recessive gene, if a baby gets two copies they are a normal baby the first several months, then get progressive nerve damage until they die around three), or Huntington’s (relevant gene is dominant, but condition manifests in adulthood) may choose not to have kids, or use technology like PGD to select embryos without the relevant genes, or in the case of recessive genes may refuse as spouse any potential partner that also has the gene.

Those are complicated decisions, and nothing should be forced, but it’s important to be able to talk about. There shouldn’t be a taboo on talking about how parents’ decisions affect their children, even if those decisions involve genetics.

When I was still on reddit, I would occasionally come across a comment I liked.

It could be something as simple as “The (local sports team) is going to (do something sports related) this year!”

And I, without context, would reply “Please have babies.”

Sometimes massive upvotes. Sometimes massive downvotes.

NEVER made any sense. And thats fine.
