We always hear about people’s bad habits but what’s your good habit? Mine is whenever I have a meal that has vegetables in it I always eat that first. That way I get it out if the way then I can enjoy the rest of meal without having to worry about eating it.
Taking off my shoes at the entrance of my home and get out of street clothes.
I usally walk everywhere(if its further away than five km i would go by bicycle)
I we ar my PPE. Most commonly eye and ear protection but I’ll wear a dust mask when routing or sanding, etc. Allowing onesself to be injured in the shop is unethical.
I do yoga twice a week
I always finish what I sta
Oh shit, it’s Candleja-
Is this a wild Candlejack reference? Better tell everyone to avoid saying Candlejack. Hey everyone! Don’t say Candleja–
Variants like “scandal jacker” also trigger it and-
Candlejack Candlejack Candlejack
I’m gonna need more rope!
I always get my coffee ready for the next day before I go to bed. Makes it easier to wake up on time when you know you have fresh coffee waiting!
Washing hands…
Its impossible to not wash the hand after something dirty or when going from outside to inside.
I don’t understand your explanation of your habit. It comes off as you don’t like vegetables and are choking them down to get to what you like. Is that a correct interpretation? My wife just made the best dinner and all three items were green vegetables.
It’s not that I don’t like them but if I have a choice of eating vegetables VS eating a steak, I’d rather eat the steak
That’s what I thought too
I never hit snooze. I get up once my alarm goes off.
Probably helps that I sleep like absolute shit and was already tossing and turning anyway lol
I never get up without snoozing at least once, even if I’m already awake
oh dude, me too.
Sad high five o/\o
Sad high five indeed lol
Make my bed every morning.
Brush my teeth no matter how tired or sad I get.
Genuinely asking, why is making your bed a good thing?
Makes you feel tidy, visually less cluttered, it’s a great small action to do to warm up your mind in the morning that won’t aggravate you to stir your brain awake. It just feels good to have a nice made and good looking bed when looking at the room and coming home for the day. It’s one little aspect of feeling like your better organized. For me it works.
Interesting. For me it kind of doea the opposite. I get it about keeping the room tidy, and I agree with that. The bed though, it just makes me feel unwelcomed. Like you’re only supposed to look, no touching allowed. Whereas my bed feels inviting and welcoming.
I floss everyday.
Same. After years of neglect, I finally had everything fixed at the same time. After 2 years of dental work and thousands spent out-of-pocket, I now floss and brush religiously.
Returning the shopping cart
I was a carry-out at my local hardware store for a few years in college. I brought carts in from the corrals and helped people load heavy stuff. I’ve seen and been victim to the damage caused when a rogue cart catches the wind and fucks off down the parking lot. People that leave their cart not in a corral or inside disgust me more than more most lazy people.
You’re my hero, dude.
Thank you. I couldn’t figure out anything I do right, but this is the thing I always do.
We are good people!
If I make a typo, rather than autocorrecting or deleting a few characters I delete the whole word and re-type it from the beginning. That way the correct spelling gets into my muscle memory and I’m much less likely to make the typo again in the future.
One of us! Also for anyone who doesn’t know, you can do ctrl+backspace to instantly delete the entire word. It’s usually faster to do that and retype it than it is to hit backspace precisely enough times to get to the typo!
If I make a typo, I try to keep as many of the letters on the page as possible - no need to throw them away and use new ones. Waste not.
This. Been doing this for decades and it’s great. Still fuck certain words up for some reason tho. Separate, people, etc.
“ie” vs “ei” are my kryptonite. e.g. receive, sieve.
I after E except after C and when sounded like A as in neighbor and weigh (and a thousand other exceptions)
Or whenever I please, as in feisty and seize!
and a thousand other exception
👆 🤦♂️ 🤣
Yup, I get seize backwards a lot cause it violates the i before e except after c rule.
Maybe if you think real hard about a person going into a seizure and flinging themselves backwards, it’ll pop back in your head the next time you go to type “seize” and help you remember.
I mean I know how it’s spelled, I recognize it when I get it backwards, it’s just muscle-memory fucks me about half the time.
Probably writing. I make sure to write a little every day. I feel like it helps me keep a rhythm and allows me to reflect on the things I care about, the things I’m thinking about, and what I’ve done that day.
That way I get it out if the way then I can enjoy the rest of meal without having to worry about eating it.
I always find it so weird to hear that there really are people that genuinely dislike vegetables. Or am I misunderstanding this? I love veggies :D
Oh, it’s not that I don’t like them. But if I have the option to eat a steak or some veggies, I’d rather eat the steak.
Well, to each their own :D
I like some but dislike most. I love peas, corn, (soft) carrots, black eyed peas. Green beans are meh, depends how they’re cooked. Can’t do broccoli or asparagus or spinach or any of the really green stuff.
I’m rather colourblind, so I’m really not sure what the really green stuff is. Are peas not really green? I thought they were orange for a very long time, but I’m pretty sure I’ve been told they’re green, actually.
Black eyed peas freaking rock. I love black eyed pea salad with onion and tuna. A shame you don’t vibe with broccoli… I love roasted broccoli, especially. Oh well!
Green beans, broccoli, spinach, brussels sprouts, stuff like that. Peas are green but they’re kind of a lighter green instead fo the darker green of those foods.
Since it’s important for health to consume some of the green stuff, it’s helpful to find out how you dislike it least. For instance, cooked spinach is just as revolting as raw, but you only have to swallow about a quarter of the amount because of shrinkage. Broccoli and Brussels Sprouts are better if you roast them until they mostly taste like brown. And shrinkage happens there, too.
Zucchini is a green vegetable that’s less offensive imho, and can hide in a spaghetti sauce without ruining it.
Don’t go with any recipe that “celebrates the delicious flavor” of anything you don’t already like.
You can also be your own mom and puree veggies into the gravy/sauce of your meat.
Anyway, good on you for eating the veggies first. It’ll also start filling you up, so the steak will feel more satisfying.
I eat celery and peas, I like scallions in certain dishes, I get pickles and lettuce on my burgers or sandwiches… I’m eating plenty of green stuff, just not that green stuff. I’ve never tried zucchini tho, will have to check that out.
Hmmm yeah, I guess I just don’t get it - or don’t see it, more accurately.
So the color isn’t what bothers me obviously, but the color is affected by the same things that affect the flavor. There’s a very strong green taste in stuff like spinach and broccoli that either isn’t there or is quite a bit milder in peas, and that’s what I have issue with.
I wonder if that’s genetic; there’s people that say celery tastes like soap, for example. I thought it might be something similar.
Celery I don’t mind, it’s just pretty bland without PB or cheese or w/e. I think you’re thinking of cilantro though, and… probably a combination of nature and nurture; I’m sure if I ate more of those foods as a kid I would like them more too. shrug
Unsolicited advice incoming!
Green beans stir-fried with tofu or something are great. Could also try broccoli stir-fried; if you manage to cook them just enough that they still have some snap, they’re great.
Asparagus painted with butter, grilled, then served with lemon juice squeezed over them are heavenly.
Spinach I only like fresh so I sympathize.
I really dislike tofu, the taste and texture both are just blech. However, I don’t universally hate green beans; a friend of mine makes this green bean and potato casserole with dill flavoring and that shit is great. But just by themselves, boiled or whatever, meh.
Asparagus painted with butter, grilled, then served with lemon juice squeezed over them are heavenly.
At that point you’re just burying the flavor of the asparagus with butter and lemon juice, and I can think of better-tasting things to convey those flavors. ;)
I tell people directly when I appreciate something they did.
