    Go fash, lose cash.

    Complete tangent:

“PublicSquare is basically the Green Book, but for conservatives,” this TikTok user, who goes by dapper.delinquent, says in his video. “The Green Book was a book passed around Black communities that was a list of stores and businesses that were safe for Black People to use. PublicSquare is the same thing for conservatives.”

If you make an analogy, then have to explain the thing you are comparing the first thing with, what is the point of the analogy?

what is the point of the analogy?

it’s a historical example , which not everyone is aware of. those who know understand faster, those who don’t learn more about events that actually took place.

Damn a restaurant I like is on this stupid site. It’s surprising because most of the stuff in my area that’s on here is like realtors, explicitly right wing businesses with patriot in the name, or like when you go in there it’s all thin blue line flags and shit. This is just a normal restaurant with normal decor. I’m not really surprised the owners are apparently Trumpy, pretty much all the business owners in my area are, I’m just surprised to see them on this site

I wanted a similar site but to track houses with Trump signs up. Have to upload pictures for the record, and cross referenced with MLS listings/sales so everything is expunged on property transfer.

No particular reason to keep this info around. Just a curiosity.

You’re right. We shouldn’t be creating lists.

Since they’re Nazis, the only thing we should be doing is killing them. Them, and anyone who collaborates or protects them.

Looks like it’s just one particular Scheels that’s on there. I’d guess the franchisee is a dickhead, not the overall corporation (any more than corporations are usually dickheads anyway).

My local Scheels is not on there. In fact, relatively few local businesses are, which is surprising since I live in a pretty red state (though the city is pretty purple, and only getting bluer as time goes on).

Make sure you tell them why you’re firing them, and post a review on their Google page. Dont mention the quality of the service, just that you dropped them for their treasonous support of MAGA Nazis.

I’m on the fence about telling them why. I have zero faith that losing me as a customer will make them reconsider their political position even if it would make me feel better. What it may do it make them remove their add from the MAGAt site meaning we lose the warning signal to others.

As far as leaving reviews pointing out there MAGAness, I’m in a red state and that may help them. They love their martyrs, so I’m definitely skipping that step.

I kinda don’t care about hearts and minds. Let them know you dropped them for that reason, the scorn is enough.

I get where you are but this is contradictory. If we don’t care about addressing mindsets of folks then making my position known is the opposite of that. They likely won’t care, and simply dismiss me as some kind of “woke lib”. So the only benefit to making my feelings know would be to make me feel better.

They’re allowed to be maga it just can’t be without consequences

Worse, pragmatically speaking, they might actually benefit if I did that. Yes they lose me as a customer, but that’s happening anyway. Now though, I’ve given them a story to tell. A cross to affix themselves to as they talk about their hardship of a single “woke lib” that drop them. If they even get a single person to accept their story, then they’ll have replace the revenue they would have derived from me and are made “whole”. Worse, they need only circulate the story in the areas we both live in and many of my MAGA neighbors would likely rally around them giving them even more business that before.

In these circumstances, the consequences for MAGAism for them would be positive as they would (at least for a short time) gain additional business from MAGAness.

This is one of those hard adult decision where the only move is to not play the game. I drop them as business I patronize and say nothing as to the reason of there MAGAness. I leave their (self inflicted) warning signs in place for others to see as I did, and without becoming a rallying cry which will benefit them.

Their statement on being a press conference venue for the Trump administration was that their business was not supporting anyone in particular, but was thrilled to be part of the democratic process. The tone this statement was said in led me to believe that they were also thrilled to facilitate Trump’s goons making a hilarious fuck-up.

As a consumer, PublicSquare’s website is easy to use. You just enter your ZIP code

Where? In the search box I just get a few products that happen to have my zip code in their description (not as a zip, but as a product number or something). Other comments here mention a map, but I’m not seeing that.

Edit: Found it. It’s really buried.

A lot of MAGAs registered in my county. A county Trump only got 21% in.

Why the fuck would you slap a MAGA sign on your business when 80% of your potential customers hate that shit?

They got a majority of votes. Unless you live in a deep blue area it’s likely to get you more customers than it costs, at least for now. Most customers won’t care either way, they’re at your business to buy your goods/services, not as a political statement.

Those signs will go down fast except for the very political and deep red areas once we’re in a post-Trump world.

They would all arrive at the market and insist on being able to open carry slung AR15s, and then be utterly baffled by the concept of a weapons check.

Like… even in ‘the West’ (yeehaw cowboys West) it was pretty common to have a weapons check at bars… because they quickly learned that if you don’t do that, well, patrons don’t enjoy the risk of getting their balls blown off while trying to throwback a shot of whiskey, because two other idiots nearby got into a fight.

Literally the fabled Tombstone, AZ, did this, as a city wide ordinance.
