Jon Stewart – A political outsider, but one who commands attention, shreds hypocrisy, and has a long track record of actually getting things done, like securing healthcare for 9/11 first responders and veterans. He doesn’t just talk—he fights.

Fuck me, they really are eternally stuck in 2005.

That comment has both em dashes and en dashes. Consisting how the rest of that list in it is written, there’s no chance it’s not written by an LLM. At best this means the sub, like much of Reddit, is chock full of bots, but there’s also the possibility that these are real people unwilling to traverse to the ends of their own skull.

Pure conjecture but maybe the tech bros liked them so much they pushed the thing to use them as often as possible. I can’t imagine the training data being filled to the brim with any particular punctuation.

I was younger and more naive then but there was a period where I thought Jon Stewart could have actually made a competitive run for office.

I haven’t watched any of the new stuff but his old show was part of my pathway to the commie dweeb I am now, and my biggest criticism of him back then was that he refused to spearhead a movement with the audience he had built

I deleted my accounts this evening. It was harder than I thought as my deceased mom’s Facebook page was a place of solace for me. But if my grandparents could fight the nazis, I can certainly stop using social media.

Truly an anti-fascist icon. A picture of this guy should be under the definition of the word valiant.

Gov. Pritzker hates Trump. I would throw all my weight behind his campaign.

And, in this game of politics and money, Pritzker has the money and a family legacy Trump wishes he had. He can, and is more and more, going at Trump hard. We’ll see … we just need the most strategically well-positioned person, whomever that is.

To fight a bad billionaire in public office, we need a good billionaire in public office!

The Dems have learning nothing from this whole shit show and they will continue to do so.

My question is: how can we annoying leftists scoop up the actual progressive, disenfranchised people that call themselves Democrats just because that’s all they know?

By going out and organizing in working class communities and doing the day-to-day with of building a revolutionary socialist movement. It’s not gonna be arguing with Reddit libs.

In all seriousness, this is actually my angle. My attempt at starting a PSL branch here is actually kind of taking off and we are look at going to a protest this Saturday for support and to help out. We are currently looking into making signs. I help with our local Food Not Bombs when I can and the whole group that is joining my branch showed up this past Saturday. I think it’s good start.

I was actually worried that it wasn’t gonna take off since I don’t know many real leftists here that aren’t anarchists. But I recently found out that the college I graduated from has a socialist club and so I reached out to them and they were all basically like “hell yeah we wanna join!” We also added a new member to the list this last weekend too.

And like these kids are alright. They all seemed to come from a “grew up in a conservative household and stated deprogramming in my teens” background. When I asked them about radicalization, one even said they sort of woke up after reading the Wretched of the Earth by Fanon. So like, hella based lol. It went from possible failure to “let’s get out and agitate” basically overnight.

I appropriate the support from my fellow online comrades. After my DSA branch fell apart overnight, I was hesitant on organizing in my city since it’s mostly libs and chuds. But I’m trying to take what I’ve learned from DSA and also very much take this PSL thing seriously. They really make you put in the work and I think I’m up to the task. I will admit that the first meeting was pure anxiety since I was completely out of my element. But I’m getting it I think.

If by “next Barack Obama” they mean “another politician who can be neoliberal af while being just popular enough with the working class that they don’t agitate for revolt too hard” then they’re right, though not in the way they thought.

You need to dismantle FoxNews, OANN, Newsmax, Xitter and now even Meta. They pushing all false information to brainwash — people who use these sources as well will never wake up

2nd comment to the top. Well, I guess at least it is somewhat reassuring to see that many liberals have stopped giving a shit about liberal ideals of free speech and other such nonsense.

Who knew deplatforming reactionaries and hate speech would actually work? Did China and the Soviets have a point when they liquidated all those nazis and landlords? There’s no way anybody could have predicted this.

Errr i remember the Obama years. I did appreciate strains to remember… hmm… Yeah. i guess i liked when he killed preexisting conditions clauses for medical insurance (though nowadays they just gatekeep current care).

Can’t think of anything else i felt about him but disgust and remorse for being fooled in '08

Remember how Obama did such a great job with his two terms, that he fundamentally changed the face of America for decades to come? How he cemented real quality of life improvements for working class Americans, and secured our human rights against future threats? I remember so clearly! I can’t remember what happened next though. Must have been awesome though!

he fundamentally changed the face of America for decades to come

We he definitely did that part, unfortunately just let the racist throw away all the masks and dog whistles.

Wasn’t Biden partly chosen in 2020 to continue the legacy?
