on the one hand, I’d say, don’t let people sway your principles unless their premise has value.
on the other hand, I’d say: humans are social creatures. especially in cohabitation, there are going to be changes made by both sides, compromises large and small. Compromise is part of being a mature human.
occupy haunts me - I don’t think people realize how intricately the destruction of this movement was pursued.
So what do we have today: rage against your neighbor? conservatives are basically addicted to it. rage against a corporation or the healthcare system: that draws their gaze and the resources to prevent it are instantly rallied.
I’ve long wondered if we could ever rally humanity to a goal worthy of it’s efforts - above economics and nationalism and racism and colonialism - can humanity be galvanized to defend itself when the threat is made clear.
So far I’d say: Not likely.
