I seem to be generating excessive amounts of saliva to the point where I need a disposable cup to kinda drool it into every couple of minutes. This makes sleeping kinda hard and so I’m wondering is there a trick? I had to make a sort of makeshift bib out of a towel just to combat this last night and that allowed me to get a few hours but man was it uncomfortable. Any advice?

Edit: the excessive saliva finally went away last night. Appreciate all of your help

The drool always (several extractions including wisdom) faded for me once the numbing wore off and I took the gauze out to sleep (you should not sleep with gauze in your mouth).

You can google about this or ask your dentist if it persists more than a night or so.

How long has this been going on? If it was just one night then hopefully it fixes itself.

If it’s several nights then call your dentist.

I was gonna say, ever heard of “dry socket”? Honestly though, when I had my wisdom teeth pulled I was still smoking cigarettes and I’d just put wet gauze in the back over the holes and do it anyway. I got lucky I guess and got away with it.

If only there was something that both caused sleepiness and dry mouth…

Smoke a bowl and take a nap dude.

As a long time smoker, not waiting a couple days after wisdom tooth surgery is a sure fire way to get dry socket which is extremely painful.

Or edibles. Or tinctures. Or beverages. W/e. I had some that was like Crystal Light single-serving tubes. Pro-tip, do not mix it in seltzer.

Definitely liquid forms only, in case you ever need a tooth extracted. Recovery for that precludes anything as solid as a gummy, even. I’m not a tree enthusiast (can’t, I have weird reactions), but it’s a common procedure with fairly standard aftercare recommendations.

You don’t want to chew anything for a bit after, and sucking on things (heh) before the sockets heal is a great way to have to go back and get more work done.

I haven’t run across any edibles that were soft enough and wouldn’t stick in places you would end up with troubles. Brownies, as an example, are soft enough, but they tend to get smeared around in the process of mashing them enough to swallow.

But some oil or whatever in a spoonful of applesauce? Hell yeah :)

In my area 5mg is the max “serving size”.

But we have gummies, salt-water taffy, mints, the occasional lozenge, seltzer, soda, chocolate bars, oil, pills, and the aforementioned “Crystal Light”.

Plenty of options that aren’t smoke.

Here in Minnesota, you can just buy weed seltzers, but that’s because Republicans accidentally legalized edibles and our craft beer breweries immediately had some fun with that. (We’ve since gotten full legalization but it’s still in the process of rolling out.) I don’t know how prevalent those are outside of MN though.
