Ironically I think learning deeply about the holocaust is a big contribution to my outspoken opposition to mass killings of civilians, such as by the IDF. If you are able to study history and see the overall patterns of violence and oppression then you will be more likely to speak out when you see the same patterns. Even if the perpetrators are the descendants of former victims.
Somebody learned the right lessons or maybe all of genz did… Prior generations learned that genocide is fine as long as my team is doing it? Good to see some change finally coming 80 years later.
It can have effects on public sentiment which can influence leadership’s behavior. I would argue this has already happened to a notable degree.
