What are some of the non-sexual pleasures men enjoy? For example, I like saunas and soaking baths with salts and scented candles.

That feeling between when you decide to lay down for a nap and actually falling asleep. When there’s nothing on your mind, and you get your blankets just right, It’s like coziness cranked to 11. One of my favorite sensations.

I love that too, especially the part when you have nothing at the back of your head bothering you. It’s been quite some time since I have that feeling. Unfortunately, in my chaotic world, there is always something going on in my head.

Can I suggest the supplement L-Theanine? It’s the chemical in tea that is associated with preventing people from getting the jitters from caffeine the way they do with coffee.

I have ADHD and anxiety, so I’m always thinking of something. It actually manages to mellow my brain out to be like, “Yeah, that’s important…but is it productive to think about right now, this minute? Maybe not.”

I even started taking it with my morning dose of Adderall because it tempers the intensity of the side effects.

This is actually something of a weakness of mine. I can do that so easily that sometimes I just take a nap, despite all the pressures I’m under.

Fuck, for sensual, a long and hot shower is sovereign. Just kick back and enjoy the muscles unkinking (shower chairs ftw?)

Climbing into fresh sheets after said shower.

A hot cup of beverage on a rainy day, looking out over the back yard.

Cuddling with our hen. No, that’s not a typo. She’s not as cuddly as she used to be, but every now and then, she’ll nestle into my beard and trill while she gets her neck petted. Pure, simple joy right there. When she was smaller, it was every night. Now, it’s maybe once a month.

Finding a new band/performer that resonates with me on an emotional level.

Used to take joy in baking, but that’s kinda fallen off what with arthritis interfering more, but every now and then, I can pop some NSAIDs and knead a dough, or make something sweet that fills the house with that smell.

Currently a timer based light switch for my mother, turning on/off the actual lights (so not just some lamps you plug in). Interface is a website, so easy to use for her. This will help her feel safer regarding burglars, since she can make the lights turn on and off seemingly randomly when she is gone. And not just any light but the actual lights of those rooms.

The pile of thingd I have to repair is far larger. But that is mostly too complicated to explain what I actually do to fix the stuff. But generally speaking replacing the actual chips in electronics that failed, instead of replacing everything.

Becoming obsessed with a project. Every once in awhile I’ll just get consumed with some kind of constructive/creative-ish project and it’s just such a nice feeling to have “a purpose”. Like, everything else in life sucks, but I’m working on something that feels important in the moment.

Taking a really nice shit is also pretty cool too.

Alone time to work on said project without distraction is my S-tier pleasure, lol. I sometimes wonder if god is real and I’m just living in purgatory because everyone around me has some magic barometer to know when I’m trying to focus on something.

None of these things are limited to men. None of these things are necessarily things all men would like either. Kind of a closed mind to even have to ask the question like that in the first place like there are things only men enjoy or things that women enjoy that men simply would not.

There are new humans being born all the time, without all the knowledge and perspectives that we take for granted. We all came here ignorant, and we all had to learn.

Someone once told me this, and it has encouraged me to give questions asked in good faith honest answers (to the best of my ability). It doesn’t cost me anything (except maybe my time), and maybe, just maybe, I had the privilige of helping someone learn something new.

The opportunity to disconnect from responsibilities! Having a moment where you can just completely relax because you have nothing that you have to do, nowhere that you have to be, no one that you must take care of; feeling the tension just leave your body because you can finally relax.

Literally anything a woman would enjoy, a man could enjoy. Take away our genders, and we’re all just people.

My question is: do you think you like saunas, soaking bath salts, and scented candles because you’re a woman (I’m making an assumption about that)? Do you think that if you turned into a man, would they suddenly become unpleasant to you?

I am a man and am interested to know what other men like so that I can try those things. Of course we can also like what women like. I specified non sexual and for men because whenever I searched it the returned results were always of sexual nature.

I’m sorry for assuming you were a woman. I think you’d get much better answer if searched for something sans gender if you haven’t tried it already such as “ways to relax” or “simple pleasures” or “easy ways to wind down”.

Asking here is obviously a viable option, but if you choose to look around more using a search engine without getting dirty results, that might be worth a shot.

For the record, I really like ASMR. There’s a ton of stuff that’s kinda just softcore porn which is always a bummer to discover for me because I liked having a purely physical, nonsexual sensation to enjoy, so I prefer keeping them separate. Plus, most of that stuff seems to be people missing the mark on what ASMR is. Like, bandwagon folks.

I find it interesting that you assumed OP was a woman based off of the things listed (I almost made the same error). This is why the asking (and answering) of these sorts of questions is important. We learn by keeping an open mind and being curious about the world and people around us.

The assumption was made based on the phrasing of the question because it reminded me of when articles and people view the opposite sex as some kind of enigma. I was wrong though. About to reply to OP to apologize as well.

Sauna, yup. Love to go to the aquatic centre for a workout and a session in the sauna. A good shower is nice, more than a bath. If I can convince someone I have lice, I love having someone go through my hair. A top notch cappuccino or well brewed tea will take me there.

Hmm … short list. I need to think about self care.

Buddy, just get a scalp massage…or ask somebody instead of tricking them??? Odds are that if they’re comfortable enough with you to check your hair for lice, they’ll just play with your hair a little. How is that your go-to?!

I’m joking. I like having my hair played with. I don’t have trouble asking someone to do that for me. I just got exposed to children with lice recently and had a friend check me. She knows I love it. It was so nice I jokingly told her a few days later that I was pretty sure I felt a louse and needed her to check again.
