Russia is so lame… This is like those Twitter users who post something and then reply to themselves agreeing but forgot to login as their alt-account.
Last I checked, the Russian army was about 200 kilometers away from the Moldovan border and it doesn’t look like they’ll get any closer soon.
They have a few thousand troops stationed there.
400000 of them haven’t done much progress the last 2 years so don’t expect another few thousands to be a game changer…
It’s not “another few thousands”. Moldova isn’t Ukraine. Moldova basically has no army or gear. They cannot defend themselves and they have no allies to defend them either because of their neutrality clause.
You make it sound so easy but such a nice means moving Russian through Ukraine (= from Ukraine) which will weaken positions in Ukraine where there is a raging war already …
What? “Transnistria” is right next to Moldova. Those troops do not have to move through Ukraine at all.
How many troops do you actually think Russia have stationed in Transnistria?
No one knows. The most recent estimate I could find was 1000-1500 + gear.

200km? They could do that in 2 hours or less, easily.
It’s 200 km through Ukraine. They’ve been trying to get through that span to Odesa for over 2 years.
Their high water mark was the Battle of Mykolaiv in April 2022.
@tal
I stand corrected.

Putin to consider fighting a war on two fronts.
Putin to consider doing whatever the fuck he wants because nobody is really stopping him.

@RedditWanderer @AllNewTypeFace Withiin the limits of his resources.
Which is a fucking lot, much more than he needs to cause global political and cultural damage.
@RedditWanderer
He’s already done that.
I was talking about non-nuclear direct military action.
In that regard, his resources are limited.Laughs in natural gas and china. He might run out of bodies, maybe.

Moldova is tiny and defenceless. They would simply fold.IF Putin can get troops there. Through Ukraine, where the current velocity of the Russian army is roughly 1 km/month (because of massive ammunition shortage on Ukraine’s side, otherwise it would be negative). That’s going to be a decade or two, then.
He could send them on “vacation” there, guess the weapons will be the complicated part.
