It all strongly resembles the fight against international terrorism. As long as there was no ruthless fight against it, there were no problems with it. In the end, it didn’t become any safer, but the rights and freedoms of people have sharply decreased compared to the times “before the fight.”
The same goes for data security - as long as nobody fought for it, as long as various “Yarovaya packages” and other fierce laws and regulations restricting the rights and freedoms of people in the network were not adopted, leaks were not so fatal.
Most likely, these are interconnected things. When your personal data is concentrated in specially guarded places, it becomes much easier and simpler to steal them. When they are dispersed, it becomes much more difficult.
But dispersed data - how then will the regime control it?
One simple thing must be understood. As soon as the authorities start worrying about our health, our safety, and similar matters - first, we need to watch our pockets, and secondly, immediately understand: there will be no more health or safety after the announced events. But less - that’s for sure.
