    You can try cutting out the middle man and donate to a hospital. I know UCSF has their own blood collection, many other hospitals should be the same

      You can donate directly to the hospital, but that isn’t going to help.

      The Red Cross spends $3 billion per year collecting blood, and sells it for 3.2 billion per year. They only make about $10-$20 per unit.

      The hospital is the one charging the obscene markup.
