Yeah. This comment is just what-the-hell

Never actually got his name. My dad had a bad relationship with his parents (one was which was the surviving daughter). So he didn’t like tslking about his family. I’d have to ask my aunt. I just know that he was a Cossack who had the role of Chief Assassin and Spymaster.

Spymasters are in charge of managing spies, not doing spying, usually.

So they would know who all the spies are. If anything it would be more important they have their identity hidden than any specific spy

No, if you’re a country’s spymaster then you probably have some spies that report directly to you, but there’s a chain of command and deliberately isolated cells that mean that the majority of actual spies are outside of the specific awareness of the spymaster, or aren’t identifiable.

Also, if the spymaster is captured, you’re already fucked because it means they were able to kidnap a top official from the capitol.

And if there is a chain of command with one person at the top, it’s probably a great deal of effort to go through the theater of trying to conceal to ultimately keep a secret that isn’t very difficult to figure out because the spymaster still needs to be working in constant active collaboration with various officers, etc. Also, the title usually isn’t public-facing anyway, not that it really matters.

A lot of gusano failchildren and grandchildren are like this. They’ve seen their parent/grandparent as a “kind and good” person, because they are nice to them and so take their stories to heart about how much better things would’ve been if they got to remain the rich and powerful scumlords before communism ruined everything. They’ve grown up with this idea, internalised it, and most people in the west have such a knee jerk “communism bad” response that they almost never actually receive pushback for it.

BTW, from an older comment of mine:

          […]

btw here is a step by step guide to Ayn Raynd’s life:

1: be born into obscene wealth

2: be 12, a civil war breaks out, flee to white-controlled crimea

3: the reds win, nationalise the fathers pharmacy

3.5: the reds win, without that she would have never seen a university from the inside

4: be 16 and among the first women to go to university

7: fuck off to the US to whine and cry

8: write incoherent, economically completely unfeasible, idealist defense of a hypothetical capitalism

          9: profit

This reminds me of a guy I knew I college, he said his family hated communism because his great-grandfather was murdered by the Bolsheviks. He said he was just a simple carriage-builder for the tsar.

Reflecting on that anecdote, assuming it is true (that he was a carriage-builder for the tsar and he was killed by “the Bolsheviks”)… I suspect there was critical information that was left out. Likely, he was a supporter of tsar and fought with the white army or something along those lines, and was killed in the civil war.

I’m not saying it’s the most likely answer, but it’s also possible that he just died in the crossfire. If you have a job that is so personally connected to the Tsar himself, you’re likely to be in places where fighting is happening even if you’re a civilian.

I honestly think it’s more likely that the Bolsheviks killed him deliberately than in the crossfire, but yeah the most likely guess is that the guy who was employed directly by the Tsar would fight to preserve the Tsardom, so he was killed trying to fight revolutionaries.

There wasn’t much crossfire to be caught in around the tsar court, since it was mostly disbanded even before October Revolution.

Oh and carriage driver for tsar would be very likely okhrana agent, this was one of the favourite methods of being undercover in okhrana modus operandi, both for observers and bodyguards (the last one ever since Alexander II died in assassination in his carriage).

Edit: To all of the Communists coming into the conversation. Fuck Communism for being the most muderous regime in history, even being ahead of Hitlers Nazi Germany. On that note fuck Fascism and fuck Nazism. Most of all though fuck you for trying so hard to bring bsck the most murderous regime in history.

Anticommie suddenly tries to shoehorn an antifascist remark in the middle of his generic ranting. Original!

Also, who among us wants to bring back the Empire of Japan?
