“Before his acting career, Lee served in the Royal Air Force as an intelligence officer, attached to the No. 260 Squadron RAF during World War II as a liaison officer for the Special Operations Executive. He was discharged from the RAF in 1946 with the rank of flight lieutenant.”
He’s also at least partially who James Bond was based on, IIRC
Imagine how the franchise would be different if Bond was mandated to be approximately 6’5" tall.
Intelligence and spy work is always undertaken by the poshest of poshboys. I mean, nothing against the actor and it’s certainly not his fault for being badass. Just something to observe in our society.
That’s how it used to be but not anymore. They realised it was a bad idea when they found out that russia had worked out who the obvious candidates from Cambridge were and recruited them first.
Sure, they do it all on merit now instead!
It hasn’t changed.
That’s a well researched and convincing argument and you should be proud of yourself.
I’m really glad that I know exactly what this is referring to lol
Really. It’s my favorite bit of trivia about him.
The guy who played saruman in the LOTR films. And i thought it was about neck snapping not stabbing.
But it’s important to remember; he didn’t know this because he’d ever heard a man’s neck snap; he heard a nazis neck snap. So it woukd have sounded the same as a man’s neck snapping, but isn’t evidence of anyone doing anything wrong.
It was stabbing. It was stabbing. Pretty sure Saruman’s neck never got snapped in the movie.
My favourite edit to this fact was for Revenge of the Sith, how Sir Christopher Lee turned to George Lucas and told him how a real person will react to getting decapitated by lightsabers.
