I saw a white pickup truck (maybe that one) going up and down the beach last month. I flagged it down wanting to know if it was the beach patrol or just some jerk. I asked if he was with the band. In reply, he asked me if I had a status card. I said, “???”. He said, “Well, I do.” Like that meant something? And then he drove off in a huff? I didn’t know what to make of it but I think he was saying, as a Saugeen, he can drive wherever he wants?
I celebrate the band getting control of the beach back, and support renaming the park, and even changing the sign. I’m not getting good vibes from the band government, tho. They seem to be more about flexing than about building or care-taking. Looking forward to revising my opinion.
