Promotion was simply non existent. Felt bad for the actors but seeing how people are enjoying it, I’m happy. The marketing was so shit that they suddenly dropped the trailer same day as superman trailer. Like they were genuinely not interested.

This show had a lot going against it.

Riri Williams had a small introduction in Wanda Forever, but wasn’t core to the story. We never learned that much about her, but we got a rough idea of her character.

The show was delayed by a year, year and a half, so instead of being a follow up to Wakanda Forever it awkwardly comes out 2-3 years later.

Disney released it as a quick dump, it’s 6 episodes released in quick succession (1 week gap). Generally this means low confidence in the show.

That being said, what I’ve seen so far, the show generally is pretty good. It’s got problems, mainly the pacing. It either needs a few more episodes to flesh out some storylines and characters, or it needs to trim things down and just be a movie.

Now maybe it won’t stick the landing, but after three episodes I’m intrigued by the main plot and looking forward to the final three episodes.

I think most all D+ Marvel shows are a three episode initial drop and then weekly follow up. The rest of what you’re saying makes sense but this part is normal for them.

All I ever give a shit about with comic adaptations is that they stay true to the characters. If you’re into comics, you’re uses to alternate universes and weird retcons. As long as you’re up front about that in your show/movie, you won’t piss off many fans of an established character. They might not show up for it, but it’ll be less drama.

Ironheart’s whole thing, the core of who she is, is seeing a need for a hero, having the guts and smarts to make it happen, then not giving up on it. That’s what this version does.

Is Riri my favorite Marvel character? Nah, not even my favorite of the era she was introduced in. But she’s still pretty damn cool. She’s everything Tony isn’t, and she’s still able to fight the good fight without trampling on Iron Man’s cool factor.

Haven’t seen the show yet, and won’t until it’s all out. But in terms of ironheart getting a show, I don’t see a fucking problem that isn’t artificial. It’s most likely mostly racists and misogynists whining when it’s this damn early. Real critique can’t be done until there’s enough available to at least get a vibe from it. Since its 6 episodes, nobody talking shit has anything useful to say. STFU unless you’re talking about the actual production itself.

          Think about it.

          • Ridiculously flamboyant drag queen
          • Overly violent brown people
          • Idealist who is really just out for blood, and is being possessed by a literal demon to boot
          • Crackhead coded bomber
          • Black person with an unjustified victim complex

Hell, Guardians of the Galaxy basically took a giant dump on staying true to the characters, and it still did really well.

Yeah, they made it work by virtue of going full alternate and making the gog movies themselves sci-fi action. Though, groot, kinda hard to go wrong with someone that has one line :)

Mixed feelings and I don’t know jack about the character. Seems like another version of Iron Man, and since he was my favorite Marvel character, don’t know if I’ll like this. Trailer looks fantastic, just worried it’ll turn out to be repackaged Tony Stark.

I’ve only seen the first episode so far, but the character wants to follow in Tony’s footsteps but struggles with a different set of challenges (like not being a billionaire.) I’m enjoying it so far.

This idea that every superhero is “another version of superhero xy” has always been quite stupid to me. In the case of Ironheart, the only similarity is that both of them build themselves mechasuits. And that Riri is of course influenced/impressed by Tony Stark, like every other teen character in the MCU.

The best part of Ironman was him locked in a cave with junk…

It got boring when every movie he’d pull 10 billion dollar suits out of his ass that we’d never heard of before.

“Ironman but no money” is 100x more interesting than Tony Stark.

The first couple episodes are out, it’s decent.

And honestly, any half decent show that pisses off racists gets my “views” even if I’m not really paying attention.

        Listen I’ll defend Fan4tastic.

The first act and intro is a solid setup. We meet are heroes, they have a great dynamic. Second act struggles a bit, but they’re learning to use their powers and setting up the stakes.

And then the third act and finale.

        Like I said I’ll defend Fan4tastic.
