I’m not talking about troll posts, but like innocent posts that always have 1 or 2 downvotes on every comment they post. Is it someone disagreeing or just a downvote troll?
Yep. Happens to me. Some don’t like my politics, so even my non-political posts get downvoted. I have some who actually follow me around just to downpost everything I do. One guy made a script for downvoting bots to attack me, but he got caught doing that by other mods/admin and he got banned for it.
Once it became easy to see who the downvoters are, I was able to get it sorted pretty quick. Some even started an alt the day I banned them for downvoting, and started the downvote stalking right up. Banned them too.

Saidit is a little too political. I’d prefer Lemmy not to be so political. Which is to my point, because some people on Lemmy seem to make their whole lives about politics and will stalk people who have different political beliefs. It’s really weird. I’m on Lemmy under other names, and I don’t post any politics stuff under those names. Lemmy is much more enjoyable without all the “Burn him because he likes Trump!!!” nonsense.
But there are some “neuro-divergent” people that try to throw in “Cheeto-Man” in every comment they see. Sigh…
Yes, it does happen sometimes. Someone will go to a person’s profile page or community’s page and downvote everything. Occasionally they will use multiple accounts. Very occasionally they will even script it.
We consider it to be spam and we ban them.
Occasionally someone will use alt accounts to upvote themselves. We treat those the same way.
There are people who will act out by down voting everything you post if you upset them. Possibly the person making the innocent posts responded to one of the down voters previous comments in a way they didn’t like.

I know for me at least, it seems to be one person who made a bot to downvote brigade me, somewhat bragged about it, then got instance banned for it. So now he just creates alts every day.
It’s all a total waste of his time too. It’s way easier and quicker for me to simply ban him, than it is for him to set up all these new accounts.
