ai slop. Easy, ugly and not on point. GTFO karma whore, go back to Reddit.
You know what makes this even more ridiculous to me, as a pasty ass motherfucker?
All the land we stole and murdered for sucks. If you’re white, why the fuck would you want to live in Israel, why the fuck would you want to live in Africa, why the fuck would you want to live in North America below like the 40th parallel?
The sun itself tells us we don’t belong every time we go outside. I grew up in Florida and Texas and the sun is a toxic danger. You did genocide to take Florida??? The place you can’t go outside half the year or you’ll get heatstroke in like 10 minutes?
You could’ve stayed in England, France, and Spain! Three of the biggest colonizer countries have literally the best climate on earth. Why the fuck would you leave??
I visited England for two weeks once and it was like my body knew that was where it had evolved to live. My nose was clearer than it had ever been, the sun felt pleasant and warm, and the hottest peaks of the hottest days were still totally manageable.
It’s all about resources, really
You put the people who are already under your thumb someplace, they displace the locals and steal their shit
Then they send the stuff back to you, they get a cut of the profit and you continue the process until you’ve stripped the land bare and have to repeat it
They didn’t send their best to the new world, they sent who they didn’t have room for. Makes me think of the first waves of indentured servants to the Caribbean, mostly Irishmen who absolutely withered and cooked in the heat of the sugar cane plantations. It’s the origin of the term “redneck” as far as I know

Neck, leg
You learn something new every day
All the land we stole and murdered for sucks.
I mean lots of it was very nice land managed by the original inhabitants in ways that adapted to the climate and conditions. It mainly sucks for colonizers because they tried to basically just transpose their western methods of construction, farming and civilization in general onto the new territory.
That’s definitely a big part of it but there is a level to which white people straight up didn’t evolve to live in southern latitudes with intense sunlight. I have skin made for a rainy northern island where you need to scavenge any bit of vitamin D you can find. I burn in 5 minutes in Florida and even when I’m not burning the sun hurts.
Like, as a 1600s peasant who’s never left England going off to find your fortune in the new world how do you not take that as a sign from God that you’re in a place you don’t belong?
Until the early 2000s when they started a huge sun protection campaign, Israel had one of the highest skin cancer rates in the world. But “God promised you this land”?
There is definitely an association with skin pigmentation and skin cancer (and rickets the opposite way). But skin pigmentation is not why colonists are bad, the colonialism is. There are dark skinned Israelis and light skinned Palestinians (and Lebanese and other middle eastern minority national groups).
There are also places in the low latitude Southern Hemisphere (Parts of Africa, South America, New Zealand, Australia) and high latitude North America (Canada, border US states) that are perfect for white colonists “genetically”, they still shouldn’t be there.
Finally while middle eastern and South Asian people may have a lower pre-disposition to skin cancer, they still get skin cancer, but material factors like the clothing they wear and the hours of the day they work affects this too. An Israeli doing a 9-5 going in and out of AC controlled buildings in a t-shirt and shorts is going to burn more than a Palestinian wearing a headscarf, and long sleeves and pants, taking a break to rest inside a traditional house at the middle of the day when it’s hottest and the UV is worse.
(also I imagine skin cancer is also under treated in Palestinians due to significant shortages in all medical care)
It’s not about having a place to live, it’s about the desire to murder, colonize, and taking peoples’ homes by force.
The land was settled in order to extract resources back to the home country. Only the schmucks and undesirables actually went out to live in the colonies. To the extent that bourgeois settled too, it was for upward mobility, and they deemed themselves entitled to wealth for bracing the so-called savage lands.
After centuries of settlement, and after the formal end of colonialism, the descendants of the original white settlers have lost connection with their own history. They must make up a new one which imagines that capitalism is natural, that the settled land was pristine before they arrived, and that the country was founded on principles of liberty rather than exploitation and genocide.
I live in temperate-ass northeastern United States, and I have to put on sunscreen ALL the time.
I don’t want this to be mistaken for standing up for European colonialism, European colonialism is the greatest crime in world history, but the rationale wasn’t as much “This land was ordained to us by God” (Well, it was a thing for Spanish and Portugese colonists) as it was “You aren’t even real people and you can’t own anything if you aren’t a real person with a flag. Tallyho now be a dear and work to death for me”
Sure the church of England and the Catholic church spent centuries justifying genocide theologically, but it’s not like secularism stooped the muurdering
but it’s not like secularism stooped the muurdering
Yup; I had a similar conversation with a lib I know who insists that religion is the cause of all wars and oppression in the world and thinks that when I mention secularism being guilty of similar that I’m talking about China or North Korea (those are a whole other bag of worms I decided not to get into cause it would’ve taken us WAY offtopic), instead I pointed out that France prided itself on being secular for ages and their colonialism was utterly barbaric, and pushed French supremacy (killing local languages and cultures for example, which is why so many countries in Africa speak French as their main language), and this was not related to religion at all; ultimately capitalism is very adaptive and would use either religion or secularism to murder nations and rob their resources. The French, back then as well as now, believe themselves culturally superior to so many nations they’ve brutalized and colonized; the violent British treatment of India didn’t come from a religious stance, it came from a cultural and racial one. Certainly in both North and South America people were oppressed because of religious differences (even recently, during the coup in Bolivia, the woman responsible referred to the indigenous population as Satan worshippers which…is both stupid and makes no sense), but then even with Israel, as people have pointed out previously, you have atheists (I hate this; I keep misspelling this the first time because ‘i before e except after c’) who don’t believe in God who still consider themselves God’s chosen people, which makes zero sense.
I agree mostly with what you say, and maybe I’m just picking on a semantic misstep, but secularism isn’t “guilty of similar”.
Religion is the cause of at least some meaningful number of wars and major oppression, and although it didn’t drive colonialism, it certainly helped justify colonial oppression. Whereas secularism has effectively never been the cause for any of the above.
Wanting to keep religiosity out of official law does not bolster colonialism or ethnonationalism. I would argue that being somewhat secular avoided those things being (somehow) even worse than they were.
natives: “which god? there are many”
honkey ass mayo ass mf: “the one i made up. he’s the only real one btw. im gonna kill you now”
SUPERIOR WESTERN MORALITY
SUPERIOR WESTERN MORALITY
“We brought democracy!”
“But they’re dead now; who’s the beneficiary of this democracy?”
“…We are!”
Like bringing chips to a party but killing everyone there and defending it by saying ‘I brought the chips!’; like yeah but you killed everyone and you’re the only one who ate the chips. We normally arrest people who do that.
I hear the storm. They talk to me about progress, about “achievements,” diseases cured, improved standards of living.
I am talking about societies drained of their essence, cultures trampled underfoot, institutions undermined, lands confiscated, religions smashed, magnificent artistic creations destroyed, extraordinary possibilities wiped out.
They throw facts at my head, statistics, mileages of roads, canals, and railroad tracks.
I am talking about thousands of men sacrificed to the Congo Ocean. I am talking about those who, as I write this, are digging the harbor of Abidjan by hand. I am talking about millions of men torn from their gods, their land, their habits, their life-from life, from the dance, from wisdom. I am talking about millions of men in whom fear has been cunningly instilled, who have been taught to have an inferiority complex, to tremble, kneel, despair, and behave like flunkeys.
They dazzle me with the tonnage of cotton or cocoa that has been exported, the acreage that has been planted with olive trees or grapevines.
I am talking about natural economies that have been disrupted, harmonious and viable economies adapted to the indigenous population–about food crops destroyed, malnutrition permanently introduced, agricultural development oriented solely toward the benefit of the metropolitan countries; about the looting of products, the looting of raw materials. Nobody ever talks about the greatest injustice in history: the brutal, centuries-long occupation of Finland by the tyrannical Swedish empire
To this day, the letter Å is still a part of our alphabet
The economies of all of these countries are built directly on top of western exploitation of the Global South. They’re not closed economies that produce the things they need domestically.
Luxembourg for instance was heavily involved in the admin in belgian congo. Austra Hungary tried to get a colony in Africa but didn’t have the capacity. And like you said def isn’t a closed economy. unfortunately a lot of mentioned countries ended up embracing the racial hierarchy that spread.

I’m too old to be arguing on the internet.
Yet here you are, starting it.
People living in Cyprus consume goods produced by western corporations that exploit cheap labor markets in countries subjugated by the west. This has fuck all to do with trade. It’s imperialism and colonialism where the west invades countries, overthrows sovereign governments, runs coups, death squads, and so on, in order to exploit the populations of these countries. Many books have been written on the subject, and one has to be shamefully ignorant to not understand this.
I think you’re substituting age with intellectual lethargy in this statement.
a lot of these were actually on the other side of the fence quite often. Sometimes for centuries at end.
copypasting lists from natopedia in the most not-mad way humanly possible
Which fucking sides are you talking about? This some weird ass ‘the dark people killed each other more than the Europeans killed’ take? I can wait for you to finish polishing that German Horse’s cock, don’t worry, take your time.
Weren’t a lot of those places a little too busy doing pogroms in their own nations to bother crossing an ocean for the purpose?
I am sure all the Roma and Jews in those nations felt the warm glow of multicultural acceptance.
Want to watch the best Irish person turn into a raging fascist? Just mention Travelers in a neutral way.
Eoin O’Duffy, leader of the fascist-inspired and anti-Semitic Blueshirts in the early 1930s and a co-founder with James Dillon of Fine Gael, had spoken against Travellers, describing them as an ‘unworthy class’ at a Longford County Council meeting (Gmelch 1986: 53).

These days even Romanians get them frothing mad.
That’s just everyone in the more well-off parts of Europe. When seasonal Romanian migrants first started appearing in places like Helsinki, people were melting down over how they were making their nice Nordic city look like a third-world country and how “shitholes” like Romania should have never been let into the Union
So is the critique here the anachronistic use of the EU flag or are we implying that it’s all King Leopold’s fault or what
Austria were active participants in the Spanish colonial empire (Like how many people named Habsburg were involved in the running of the Spanish colonial empire do you think?). Hungary, Slovenia, Slovakia and the Czech republic fall under that umbrella.
Malta’s economy was literally piracy of North African shipping lanes for 400 years what are you doing.
a lot of these were actually on the other side of the fence quite often
I would like you to tell me exactly when Austria was ruled and exploited as a colony.
I would bet you money that they buy Austria’s “the first victim of the Nazis” line.
