Rerunning an idea, I’m curious how image generators have improved/changed.

Feel free to break up the words in your username, and let us know if you added anything like “a logo for…” Or “an avatar for…”

Let’s run it through as many different generators as you have access to, and see what happens. You might just find your new avatar picture!

        skims bot FAQ

Oh, dang, it even runs multiple models, and it looks like it can run Flux, which can handle fairly English-language-looking prompts.

        I gotta see this.

@aihorde@lemmy.dbzer0.com draw for me An engraving of a skunk. style: flux

Hahaha, that’s fantastic. Thanks, @db@lemmy.dbzer0.com. I can’t believe that I had been unaware of this for years.

I’ve got local hardware myself, but this makes generation way more accessible to random users on the Threadiverse without tying them to commercial services, including users who are using a phone and can’t really run the stuff locally.

            skims bot FAQ more

It does look like the bot tries to block NSFW stuff, but outside of that, it looks pretty permissive of whatever, and while the style list doesn’t clearly distinguish between styles consisting of prompts for one model and different models, there are a lot of models in there that I recognize. Just append style: flux to the end of the prompt. It’s got Flux (style: flux), Pony (style: pony), Pony Realism (style: pony realism), the Nova family (style: nova anime xl, style: nova, style: nova furry pony), Stable Diffusion 3 (style: sd3), SDXL (style: sdxl), Mistoon (style: mistoon anime), just from a very quick skim. I guess AI Horde must have a list of models and the ability to just download models or something if it doesn’t already have them present on a node?

Yes the AI Horde has a list of available models (close to 200 I think?) and we keep curating that list often. But people can also run custom models or even private ones if they ask us for it.

If you have a good enough GPU, you can add it to the horde to let your friends seamlessly use its compute through more powerful UIs like Artbot, and support services like the @aihorde@lemmy.dbzer0.com bot you just used ;)

Yeah, I remember reading about AI Horde a while back and thought about it, but wasn’t comfortable with having an system that fields requests from the outside world, as my GPU is on a desktop and I’m not totally sold on how well these guys have hardened the thing. If I had a dedicated compute node for doing renders, I’d probably be fine with it, as it just eats some electricity then.

                  “These guys” being me :)

There’s no way to get pwned by the horde ,as it’s pull-mode only. You don’t get arbitrary code to run. It’s perfectly safe.

I have actually had this exact book as a text in one of my courses. I have a copy literally within arms reach of where I’m typing this.

I’m curious whether your username is going to result in something akin to the Toynbee tiles.

        Aw, I guess not. flux1-dev-fp8.

That question (or similar) comes up any time someone notices my name. I hadn’t even heard of the tiles when I chose this - actually, not even sure they were a thing at that point. People also always assume my real name is Tony, which it’s not.

This is my username because, last time I was looking for a username, the first X-Men movie had just come out. I read the then age-appropriate novelization and I liked the Toad’s secret name, Mortimer Toynbee, and claimed it for myself. Sadly, there is at least one animated series in which they’ve retconned his name.

I’ve never intentionally used AI, but obviously it latched on to the “bee” part. I wonder what it did with the “toyn.”

But relevant anecdote! After I had been using this name for many years, I got a job in Philadelphia. I lived a long drive away, so I would take the train to the city and walk to work. One day I took a different route between work and the train and randomly walked over a real life toynbee tile I hadn’t known was there. I had my eyes down as I crossed over it or I wouldn’t have noticed it.

It was very jarring to see my online name in real life in a city where I knew literally no one other than my coworkers, who definitely didn’t know that name. I knew of the tiles by that point but didn’t know they’d started (or existed) in Philly and hadn’t been thinking of them at all until I read one in the street. I was so surprised that I think I stopped in the middle of a crosswalk. Seeing that tile eventually lead to me watching a documentary on the tiles, which itself was pretty interesting.

Just “tal” was disappointing, something that looks kinda like a bowl of soup.

Taking OP’s advice, and doing “an avatar for tal” on stoiqNewrealityFLUXSD35_f1DAlphaTwo yields:

That model’s trained on people, though, so it’s going to be biased towards people.
