The CTR reboot on Switch is possibly the worst game I have played in Switch. The loading screens are, no joke, like 40 seconds long. Every race you have to wait 40 seconds to play. The faces themselves are (depending on the track) 2.5 minutes or so.

One small positive is that it has the option to use the original music instead of remastered music. The Crash trilogy reboot is great, but that’s one thing I really really wish it had. The new music isn’t bad but it just doesn’t hit the same way.

Viewtiful Joe, my beloved. Why does that game get treated like the red-headed step child? It was so good!

Commiserate friend. Lost Planet 2 is an all time game for me and Capcom unceremoniously delisted it and went quiet in plans to restore it after GFWL removal. After treating it like shit for 3 they binned it. Pains me

It’s ok. Rayman Legends is better than any other game from the pictured IPs. Can’t improve on perfection.

All I gotta say on the Spyro remaster trilogy is that I 100% support the 3rd game ( the only one my family had ) having been remastered. I don’t like how the bugs in certain levels look/looked in either version because bugs can fuck off, but I was dreading a certain level where you’d find a giant gateway to that shark ( submarine? ) shooting mini game and I didn’t even realize I breezed through that section. Little kid me was scared of that giant gateway because the music would stop and then I’d be face to face with a giant black void, but them deciding music should be played by those portals made it 300% less terrifying.

I have no clue how the original Crash or Rayman games compare since I only played Wrath of Cortex, Twinsanity, and Tagteam Racing for Crash ( before getting the remasters of the original trilogy ( still on game 1 ) ), and Rayman on DS and Origins on xbox360 ( before getting Legends ).

As for Ratchet & Clank, I have played all the PS2 titles ( still in the beginning of Deadlocked ), so I have a frame of reference for how it compares to the latest R&C game. So far ( only have made it past the first Rivet section because getting my controller to work while playing it on Steam Deck, is for some reason, the biggest pain in the ass no matter what I try ) it has been very fun for me. Absolutely love Rivet because 2 words: Giant Hammer! The story, so far, is also pretty good, too.

With Jak and Daxter, I 100% played through the first game but haven’t touched the 2nd game since I was less than 25% done before losing my copy alongside the memory card with my save. But can say with certainly the first game is worth it and would love to see a remaster of.

The original Crash played fine, controls were very responsive, but the platforming was unforgiving. To give you an idea, the japanese version of Crash 1 is easier than the USA release, with some levels considerably shorter. Crash 2 and 3 are much easier compared to 1 (my personal favorite is 3, with all the powerups you get after beating bosses and the level variety)

Rayman 1 was similarly hard as fuck, even more so to get a 100%. Absolutely gorgeous 2D graphics that hold up even today. Rayman 2 is worth checking out if you want 3D platforming, there’s lots of that. Can’t talk about Rayman 3 tho, but it does look fun.

Crash 1 can fuck off. It’s hard and boring. It’s just these segments of very long very precise jumping. It’s hard to really put into words that make sense if you haven’t played it, but I’ll try for other readers. It’s like you don’t jump very high, which isn’t really a problem, but it just feels like it should be higher. Plus, it feels like the hitboxes for obstacles are really huge.

I’d add Bubsy, but that cat did get a new game in 2017

On the other hand, Zero the Kamikaze Squirrel and Awesome Possum are right there!

I thinks it’s time to admit that Rayman might have won the battle, but the Rabbids won the war 😔

The Rabbids game for the Wii was actually a fantastic party game for one or two afternoons of fun with family or drunken friends.

They just didn’t have to shove Rayman in there at all. The game would’ve sold the same, and Rayman fans wouldn’t be mad.
