The devs should be invisible if they want their project to succeed like a California wildfire. This hurts Lemmy’s donations.

Not necessarily a bad thing. There are multiple interoperable “threadiverse” platforms already. I like Lemmy currently but I’d happily switch to an alternative, and financially support them, if like the UX and the devs are less toxic.

The current Piefed instances unfortunately don’t seem to show what they federate with. I personally would not join an instance which federates with lemmy .ml anymore, for example. But yeah there sure are a lot of options popping up which is great.

I’ve been looking at Piefed and Mbin long-term. Don’t think I’m ready to make the change yet, but when Federation is more reliable, I’ll probably make the move to one of them.

Interstellar is almost there but it still doesn’t have notifications unfortunately. It’s also limited to I’m pretty sure only one instance at the moment.

It looks to me like it supports multiple. In fact, it has a default to anonymous kbin.earth setting that I don’t think that you can remove even if you add accounts on other instances.

You actually can remove the guest kbin.earth account, you just have to add a different account and switch to it first.

Ahh, you’re right, thanks. I’d tried creating another account, and just assumed that deleting the active one would work and then switch me to another extant account. Doesn’t display a message or anything, just doesn’t let you do the deletion.

But if you switch first, it does work.
