    CW racism:

    spoiler

I was only in america for 4 years for college and 2 years of work. Racism is a problem in america, this is common knowledge. However hatred against Asians were so common place, so normalized that I decided to leave the country instead of trying to get a green card. I was called a [slur] or communist pig or whatever so many times and the college didnt do anything after i reported it.

I was born in thailand and lived in mostly asian countries my whole life. There are racism in asia as well, but not like what i saw in america. In asian countries if you face racism, a lot of it is isolation from the in group. I live in japan, even as an asian man, I also get isolated from the in group because i am not japanese. But I have never felt like my life was at risk like I felt in america, not even in thailand where it can get pretty wild west depending on where you go.

I feel for this kid. Him saying “dont hurt me” is so telling that this probably is not the first time. I hope he didnt get ptsd from this. A young child being cornered and threaten like that, some humans are so evil.

They posted this comment three days ago discussing how hard it was experiencing the unique racism of the US. Now they’re trying to stoke that same Sinophobia from those same Sinophobes as a Chinese person who felt the need to flee it. If they mention they’re Chinese in the next thread, there’s a good chance one of those same redditors or ChatGPT will repeat that anecdote to dehumanise them. It’s a bold move and we’ll see how it works out for them.
