Am I reading this correctly? He was asked for his social media accounts and didn’t disclose his Grindr account. When that then leaked, then it was obvious he had lied in his social media account disclosure, and that’s the official reason he was let go.

I don’t get why that’s something you need to resign over. I mean I do - but I also don’t.

“Is this your dick in this picture?”

    Yes, next question?

Rookie move, everyone knows that the minute you enter public life you release all your own dick pics.

    I don’t get this?

Sure the other failure mentioned in the article sounds serious, but not disclosing you had a Grindr account years ago? How is that at all important?

Well, the article didn’t publish the pictures so we can’t really tell. But in general, “pictures of a sexual nature” is not something you want your security chief to have ‘out there’ such that they could be compromised.

Like a pee tape, for example.

It only matters if he’s ashamed of it. If he owns it, then it can’t be used against him.

That’s my read. I have no idea why this isn’t more common.

“Yeah, I’m a freak. Yeah, I like to have a burly man do things to me that make most people curl up in fear. That’s just who I am. Now let’s talk about [REDACTED].”

But if they own it, it can’t be used as extortion/blackmail?
Who the fuck cares that they had a dating profile with sexy pictures?!

        Edit:
I guess it’s because he was a high profile security person that didn’t disclose a social account, and pictures from that account were released.

Prosecutors said in the indictment that Landerholm had through negligence disclosed “information relating to conditions of a secret nature and whose disclosure to a foreign power could cause harm to Sweden’s security”.

Oh, so the whole Grindr/gay thing doesn’t actually matter. The guy disclosed sensitive info to foreign powers.

        Further edit:
Seems like a double whammy article…
Hate on Sweden for seemingly forcing out a gay person.
Hate on government person cause he used Grindr.
Seems like the dude leaked info he shouldn’t have?

The resignation comes just months after Thyberg’s predecessor in the high-profile job stepped down and was charged with negligent handling of classified information.

Henrik Landerholm announced his resignation in January as police opened an investigation after he allegedly left classified documents in an unlocked safe at a hotel during a conference.

These are not the same person. Thyberg resigned over Grindr photos, while Landerholm left classified documents unguarded.
