Neither DeSantis’ nor Uthmeier’s offices responded to Miami Herald questions about whether the state has directed police to continue enforcing the law despite the federal court order.
“When I issued the temporary restraining order, it never occurred to me that police officers would not be bound by it,” Williams said. “It never occurred to me that the state attorneys would not give direction to law enforcement so that we would not have these unfortunate arrests.”
At another point in the hearing, the judge said: “There is no such basis,” for the arrests. ”Why aren’t these people being released immediately?”
Yes despite her stay of the state law, a Florida Highway Patrol trooper arrested the Georgia man in north Florida this week under the statute targeting undocumented immigrants who enter Florida illegally — though it turned out the man is a U.S. citizen, born in Georgia.
How about fucking arresting some of them. Issue a warrant or STFU about it. Corrupt and weak ass court system … unless it’s a speeding ticket or a private equity firm wants to collect a medical bill, then it’s a 14 day processing time at most.
Apply consequences.

Throw them in jail for contempt, you coward.
That’s literally the remedy that they have. Issue an arrest warrant for the officer that violated and contravened the court’s orders and keep them in custody until the person they falsely arrested is returned home.
Everybody else that assisted that officer with committing the crime should also be arrested and held until the person is returned home.
You only have to do that one time for all of the other officers to know that they will get their shit kicked in if they continue to contravene the court’s orders.
Who’s gonna cuff them and put them in a cell? Certainly no LEOs from FL.
u.s. marshals would be the ones tasked to arrest and detain, if so ordered by a federal judge.
That won’t happen either.
Fed judges can deputize and/or order a LEO to act on its custodial requirements. Thus, the cop’s boss could be ordered. Failing to comply could mean someone needs to arrest them both, and everyone has a boss.
It could mean a lot of people in lock-up until the wrongfully-detained come back, but OH, the message it would send.
They can deputize anyone they want. There is no requirement that the individual be a sworn law enforcement to officer beforehand.
Want to arrest crooked cops? Go ask the judge to deputize you, so you can lawfully execute their judicial orders.
I can see things getting escalated in such a situation. Sounds risky, but there don’t seem to be an abundance of options.
You.
You can be deputized by this judge. Anyone can be deputized by a federal judge.
Judges don’t regularly use that power, but they do have it.
I hope it happens.
Sounds like the title of an isekai manga though; I Woke Up In A Fascist Coup & I’ve Been Deputised By A Federal Judge To Arrest Crooked Cops!
Would be the first Isekai I read with genuine interest in a long time.
Be the content you wish they’d make
You know what? Maybe I will. It’ll certainly be a good bout of catharsis.
Federal judge hasn’t been paying attention.
Under which rock has she been living the past couple of months?
Oh so
Uh, that’s no bueno
