Top Trump official Stephen Miller’s recent declaration that anyone who “preaches hate for America” will face deportation has ignited alarm online, with critics warning the statement disregards First Amendment protections.

Social media users and legal analysts raised immediate concerns, pointing out that expressing dissent or criticism of the government is protected under the First Amendment. Some worried the administration was veering into authoritarian territory.

The backlash has reignited broader debates over the limits of free speech, especially as civil liberties fall under scrutiny. While immigration enforcement remains a core theme of President Donald Trump’s platform, critics are increasingly questioning whether rhetoric like Miller’s is a precursor to more aggressive suppression of dissent.

Fart, you already know what I think. I think Hamas are effectively Nazis.

And I know what you think, you think Israel are Nazis. Hell, you probably think I’m one too. So what’s the goal here?

I’ve never said or implied that I think you’re a Nazi so please don’t blame me for things you’re fabricating out of whole cloth.

This article is about Miller saying that American citizens should be deported for disagreeing with the current administration so when you said that Nazis should be deported before they can kill millions you were taking about Hamas?

I didn’t realize there were many in the United States.

Sorry about that, I don’t know why I thought you specifically called me a Nazi.

And he doesn’t say citizens. You can’t deport a citizen. There’s been a lot of ruckus over green card holders, but they are not citizens. Bit of a difference there.

Hamas supporters? There’s a few, and there’s no reason we should let them stay or let them in in the first place.

Oh, I don’t need proof. Lemmy has shown me that we can just call anyone who disagrees with us “nazis.” Oh and we can call them “fascists” too. It’s easy. Everyone does it!

So ewww, the Dems/liberals are such nazis and fascists. And hey, if you support them, then you are a fascist nazi too.

          I’m just following Lemmy’s example. :)

No you’re the one throw that out there attacking users and blatantly breaking the civility rule of this community.

What civility rule have I broken? You asked who the nazis were and I answered using Lemmy Logic.

So are you disagreeing with Lemmy? Be careful, you’re gonna get canceled real quick if you don’t go with the Lemmy wave.

Getting back to the point of this conversation I guess you don’t have any proof of the allegations you’re making you just feel like it is true?

Lemmy has shown me that we can call anyone who disagrees with us, “nazis” and “fascists” without proof. If you don’t like that, then please take it up with Lemmy admin.

I’m just following Lemmy’s example. Do you ask liberal Lemmy posters for “proof” when they call people nazis and fascists? You seem a bit biased by not doing that. I would hate to start questioning your motivations.

After all, you mod some conservative communities. Surely you wouldn’t be acting in bad faith and just doing that to mock conservatives, right?!

My conservative communities are the only ones that are modded based on the community’s and the instance’s rules instead of the thin-skinned moderator’s feelings.

They are free speech strongholds for everyone to have civil discussions.
