Elect: to select by vote for an office, position, or membership. by Merriam Dictionary

I thought voting “doesn’t work?” Are you telling his logic isn’t even consistent by his own standards.

This is the same instance sheltering the well-known troll Universal Monk.

The tankies communities quickly collapse when challenged first Hexbear now Vegantheoryclub. It’s almost as if their foundation is weak.

I have screenshotted that last part with much pleasure. Have a good life buddy!

The one thing that’s been a much worse experience on Lemmy than Reddit or other similar social media is being Vegan, it fucking sucks here. And the anti-vegan bullshit is everywhere on Lemmy, simply mentioning it often feels like you’ve committed a war crime based on the replies.

To everyone who is part of that: you are shitty people who need to grow the fuck up.

And what does any of that have to do with OP’s rant tho. UM doesn’t seem to be involved in any of it, so I don’t even know why you al are talking about him/her. Unless Universal Monk is supposed to be one of the people OP is arguing about? I don’t know tho, because it looks like just a bunch of rants.

I’m not even sure what OP is upset about.

But i did read it…im not sure this is saying what you think it does. To me it sounds like you have multiple accounts and are cyber stalking this user and now making an info dump when they are leaving lemmy?

Like everyone needs a hobby but you’ve picked a weird one.

Can’t believe i just wasted my time reading someone’s vendetta shitpost

Yeah, and then the user goes off on a tangent about a user called Universal Monk, who doesn’t seem related to the rest of the rant at all. WTF?! This poster sounds like they’re just stalking anyone and everyone they don’t like.

“using tanks to suppress Hungarian fascists makes me a tankie???”

Yes, supporting using tanks to suppress Hungarian leftist revolutionaries, the literal event which spawned the term tankie, makes a person a tankie.

I don’t think they were saying they wanted to use tanks to suppress Hungarian fascists. They’re saying that they’re being accused of wanting to suppress Hungarian fascists (?), just because what they actually said was that they don’t like America.

I can’t really make head or tail of the whole thing. Just wanted to point out that I think you might have misread that one part.

Ah, that interpretation makes sense. Repeating the canard about Hungarian revolutionaries being fascists, I think, made me interpret it in a less generous light.

I think there are malicious people on Lemmy who have learned to exploit tribal boundaries to get people on their side. People claiming to be vegan, or anarchist, or queer are three giant glaring examples of this. Once you’ve made the claim, you can come out of the gate with whatever bad-faith gibberish serves the purpose you’re trying to accomplish, secure in the knowledge that a sizable amount of the people in that same tribe will go to bat for you because you’re in the club.

(Also people claiming to be communist.)

I’m not saying that anyone professing to those things is a fake. Most people in all are clearly are being honest about it. I’m just saying that, even if someone’s in your tribe, you need to look at what they’re actually saying, and that it’s okay not to support them even if they are wearing being-on-your-tribe on their sleeve to tempt you into being a good member of the tribe and backing them up on whatever action or belief they are currently about.

Tribalism is the stupidest thing ever. I remember seeing posts about Reddit meetups, advertising something by saying “support them, they’re a redditor,” etc, like using a given social media site somehow implied trust. It doesn’t.

The same is true for political affiliations, gym memberships, or sports team preferences. Someone liking the same thing as you doesn’t make them “better” than someone else, it just gives you something to talk about.

Yet look at how many people cite influencers, famous athletes, or politicians for things they have no expertise in. It’s dumb. Why don’t people think for themselves?

Honestly I don’t care if someone is a communist. I think it way more important to put critical thought into your beliefs. Don’t be a follower or to much of a idealist.

I looked at his account. I don’t se any similarity at all other than he doesn’t feel that every post in communites has to be 100 percent pro-democrat.

He likes other points of view. I do agree with him on that. But that’s anyone who doesn’t worship the dem party like Lemmy does.

Do you all think that every person that posts a conservative point of view is Universal Monk? Cuz you all act like that. lmao

Accounts. There are a few to pick from and looking at one is not the entire picture.

Post volume combined with post type is part of the similarity. The intent of your posts also appears the same: It’s not about political issues and more about getting attention. After a time, downvotes become a badge of honor, of sorts.

You chose to comment here, and you seem to know what the results would be. You were also able to determine that Lemmy was mostly non-right and you picked a username that was likey to ruffle some feathers at first glance. If you just blindly joined Lemmy without reading any posts, I would be very surprised. (Was your first thought, “OMG! Lefties and die-hard Commies! I’ll feel right at home!”? No. I doubt that.)

So, political association isn’t my first concern. It’s the intent of your posts. It’s highly unlikely that you actually read any of the articles you post but pick them based on title alone. At a minimum, you are just a propagandist and in that regard, exactly the same as UM. If you actually read that much bullshit, you rely way too much on media sources for what your opinions should be at the moment.

I can only see one of your +70 article posts from when you created your account due to how I block communities. So, you either are are really into furry porn, or you just make political posts. (TBH, the furry community is much more self-aware than your average political spammer.) It’s not really much of a stretch to understand what the majority of your posts are, even though I did catch a few of them when you created your account.

So, I don’t really generalize you as conservative. I just put you in the same category as politically toxic, regardless of your political party. I can even make some really good guesses as to how you will reply, if you even choose to reply.

When you go off the deep end they are all about the same. I get where you are coming from but I think extreme views are ultimately not rational.

Extremism is relative. To a monarchist, representative democracy is extreme. To a traditionalist, women having rights is extreme. To a feudal lord, capitalism is extreme. To a slaver, abolitionism is extreme.

Very often, ‘extreme’ views aren’t rational, true. But moderate views generally aren’t rational either. As General Sherman once opined, regarding why so many otherwise ordinary people blithely accepted slavery as a fact of life, even in the North, “Man is a creature of habit, not originality.”

Anarchism, or libertarian socialism, is not particularly irrational inherently. I think it makes some vital miscalculations, but history shows that anarchism, in practice, can work. Maybe not wholly in the way of idealists’ dreams, but what ideology does? I simply disagree that it is the optimal path forward for human civilization.
