Would Hitler even exist without a successful socialist country like the USSR existing? Anti-communism was a pretty massive part of the Nazis’ whole deal.

I think the fascist movement could exist without the Russian revolution, but it’s less likely to succeed. Nazi’s needed the collaboration of the German military and economic elite to come to power, maybe they don’t get that without the communist threat.

Of course, a good Marxist should say that the revolution in Russia will still occur in some form even in Lenin was assassinated

I’m sorry but no one else can rock that balding + stache look; I got both but I’d look like dork if I tried that leaning forward pose.

Source: was actually called a dork when I leaned over to see which DBZ boxset was on display.

Germans were still upset over Versailles (despite getting the best deal among the rest of the Central Powers) and antisemitic. Not to mention, the pre-WWI government of Germany was a precursor to fascism with lots of militaristic and colonizer aspirations. Put these all together and the nazis still rise to power.

Without the USSR, they probably don’t have the same international support like others have said. They go the route of Portugal, Spain, and Italy where they are stuck at home or have limited foreign involvement in places like Ethiopia. Having a ban on weapons production doesn’t help them, either. No soviets means no reason to let Germany ignore the treaty and they might get cracked down on by the former Entente. This also implies the Whites won the civil war and the tzar is still in power. There’s more pressure on France and Britain to suppress any German re-militarization.

We would be remiss if we didn’t mention Japan. There’s no Anti-Comintern Pact to form the Axis Powers. Japan is largely on its own if it decides to expand and colonize. It’s fighting the US, Britain, France, and possibly Russia (due to border skirmishes in Korea) over colonization privileges. The Chinese Civil War is still happening and Vietnam is still going to try kicking out the French. Fighting all of the above solo is obviously suicidal, even for a fanatical Japan. They will have to be more diplomatic in their invasion of Asia if they are going to invade at all.

I’ve been streaming Enterprise a few times a week and it’s great. I watched the show when it came out, and I thought I watched all of it, but I don’t remember jack shit from almost any episode … which is fucking awesome! I remember a few completely, but only a few. All that oldtrek just waiting for me.

The allies would likely be slightly less friendly towards the nazis if they didn’t see them as a cudgel against the USSR.

season 4 of enterprise started out just as cartoony as season 3; but it starting getting better and i’m convinced that it would have been awesome had we gotten all 7 seasons.
