I am so thrilled about this announcement. I have been engaging with city councilors and mayors in Waterloo for many years on this topic. Our current mayor has been the first one to see this as a genuine issue. She promised me she would be addressing it, and she came through. I am even more shocked that the citizen delegations have been mostly in favor of closing the zoo. This is fantastic news, not only for the animals involved, but for my own quality of life as someone who would like to be able to use that trail in the summertime without experiencing vystopia.
