This happened to me recently, there’s a group of people confusing me for a humanitarian artist because I stood up for her in front of the wrong people, and now I notice my copyrights/trademarks are intertwined with hers because the misconception is socially innate.
Absolutely nothing happened. She just said “sorry I mistook you for someone else” and I never saw her again.
Though I do remember I once mistook a random guy for one of my friends and showed him a meme. Then I realized he wasn’t my friend and he said “Sorry I’m not that guy, good meme though”
Same here: absolutely nothing happened.
I had a random guy I have never seen in my life recognize me in a city I don’t even live in. I was walking by a dude in an aisle of a thrift shop and he did a double take when he looked at me. If looks could kill I would’ve dropped dead right there. As I walked by I heard him mumble something and swear. Immediately I felt uncomfortable so I left. I was showing my mom around town at the time so the next time I saw him while we were waiting for the bus he didn’t seem to recognize me since I was standing beside my mom.
Later on, I heard a news story from that city that some dude was randomly shot. Apparently it was a targeted killing. Sometimes I wonder if that was going to me just based on how that guy looked at me.
Was wearing my blue Dickies work uniform while browsing at MicroCenter when a woman behind me says “Shouldn’t you be at work?”. I turn around and say "Yes. Yes I should "
I was waiting at the train station, and some guy was coming up the elevator and yelled “Aaaaaaah!” in fear when he saw me. Then he came running up to me and asked me if I was his ex, and when I said I was not he asked me if I was sure. Um, yes.
I was at my grandma’s funeral. My great uncle who I hadn’t seen in a couple years is wandering around and sees me. His eyes light up with excitement, he looks at me and excitedly asks Stewart? He then looked very sad and let down when I said no.
Sometimes I wonder if I shouldn’t have just said yes. It seemed like it would’ve made him very happy when he was obviously already going through a tough time. To this day we still have no idea who Stewart is
Straight to jail.
A lot of customers at work mistake me for one of my staff. We look nothing alike. Different hair color, different facial hair, drastically different glasses and demeanor. But once or twice per week someone tries to continue some conversation we never had.
I could understand if they had spoken to him once and saw me in there a week later… But these are regulars. I guess glasses + hair growing from face goes a long way.
I gave them a couple of quarters and they played a couple games of Galaga.
A drunk man on a commuter train in Japan was convinced that I was Mr Bean. I can see the confusion, we are both Caucasian with brown hair.
“Bean-san, Bean-san!”
Please tell me this was your reaction:
They did it on purpose and ended up conning me out of a few hundred bucks I didn’t have to lose.
