Todayās game is New Vegas, and it also marks the end of New Vegas for me. For the screenshot I originally considered doing my ending slideshow, but I thought that might 1) contain too many spoilers (though I doubt thereās many people that havenāt played it) and 2) make for too long of a post as I got almost all the slides. So instead Iāll briefly recap some of it in the post.
For my screenshot I selected a Screenshot of the other side of the Dam. Itās a very basic screenshot. But I like it because itās not an angle I got to see often and I think it shows the scale of it well and itās like a trophy saying āI got hereā since you canāt get to this side until the end of the game.
For the Recap: I did the maddening Sunset Sasparilla Questļæ¼ (I hope whatever employee came up with that is happy), I got all the companions, and I played 30 games of Caravan. Then I went onto the Second Battle of Hoover Dam (for the NCR). I have to say for how tiny the game is they do an amazing job of making of making it actually feel like a battle. Between all the explosions and action going on I found it easy to get swept away by the battle that Iād forget that there were only maybe 10 other soldiers in the room with me. I brought Cass and ED-E with me, though sadly I didnāt beat ED-Eās main story so heās lost to the wasteland after the game. I negotiated for peace at almost every opportunity, so the Brotherhood and Boomers helped, while the Great Khans fled (I figured they wouldnāt survive a battle against the Legion). The followers didnāt side with them sadly though. I tried to set it up where everyone benefited (Except the legion obviously. They werenāt winning in this situation).
I also wanted to bring up the slideshow, as I really enjoyed it, and Iām a bit bummed now that Fallout 4 didnāt do something like that. This isnāt a essay interpretation by any means and this could be me misreading it because Iām almost knocked out NyQuill and a Fever right now, but I personally felt like it kind of changes the seriesās motto (āWar, War Never Changesā) depending on your actions, as it changes the context of it. For example the NCR ending I got where almost everyone came out on the positive it felt much more like it was saying āWar Doesnāt change, but it can bring about changeā. While with Yes Man Ending I got (I want and quickly did that after for the achievement) I felt like it was a much more dystopian āWar will never changeā. I felt this is kind of parallel to what Ulysses adds to the motto at the end of Lonesome road (āMen do, through the roads they walkā), because this interpretation is brought on by the āroadā the player (as in from our perspective) walks through the game. Like I said though, NyQuill and Fever, so I could be completely misreading this right now.
Anyways, I also mentioned I did the Yes Man ending for the achievement. So hereās a Bonus picture of Yes Man because I actually really enjoyed him too:
I totally forgot how completely overwhelmingly fucking beige those Fallout games were.
I mean, isnāt the real Mojave desert quite beige? It would probably be weird if they made it green or blue š
The real Mojave is actually very tan, with some yellow and orange bits from the other sands and rock formations. The sky is never the same color as the ground.
Itās really quite pretty out there.
The real Mojave is actually very tan
Makes sense since the sun is always shining on it š
Wait, fallout 4 didnāt do the ending slideshow? Thatās an iconic part of the series! Iām so glad I stopped buying Bethesda games.
It has a video cutscene thatās similar, But it is very disappointing and bare compared to New Vegas. You get either 1 of 3 video cutscenes depending on if you sided with the institute or someone else (and the players gender), then next 3 are always the same, then the final one changes based on your gender. Really simple. We donāt get any sort of cutscene telling us what happened after to companions, or summarizing quests. Itās really disappointing, at least to me.
at least you can actually PLAY after beating the game, something new vegas (even with dlcs) didnt do
but I thought that might 1) contain too many spoilers (though I doubt thereās many people that havenāt played it)
I actually appreciate that. I only finished New Vegas for the first time last week, just before Echoes of Wisdom came out. Was worried youād finish before me and Iād end up seeing something spoilery.
I try to avoid posting anything thatās a major spoiler (so a lot of my posts are āhereās X charactersā or āhereās a landscape shot of Y locationā) and I leave the spoilers too the text so if someone who will be spoiled sees it they can see it and go āoh. Thatās a spoiler. I better stop readingā. Iād use the built in spoiler button by for whatever reason my client doesnāt like to register that I press it and typing out the text spoilers by hand is a lot to remember for me.
congrats on finishing the game. iāll wait till next spring to do yet another annual playthrough.
I already want to do another play through lol. Iām going to hold off though because I know Iāll get burned out midway through and also because I want to move onto my next game
My suggestion is that next time you play through to use the Viva New Vegas modpack, or the equivalent one for the Tale of Two Wastelands (puts Fallout 3 into New Vegasās slightly updated engine).
Great āvanilla plusā experience. Just try to avoid getting into modding hell, spending more time tacking extra mods on top than playing.
absolutely. itās why iām doing them annually in the first place.
Thanks for all the updates!
cool
