Surprisingly, Rockstar have now added BattlEye anti-cheat to Grand Theft Auto V / GTA Online, and sadly it seems they have not enabled the support for Linux desktop and Steam Deck with Valve's Proton. ARTICLE UPDATED.

    I’m glad I never played GTA V for the multiplayer. The load times were enough to make me lose interest.

        I’m not afraid to admit that I played the game a lot and that shit cost me weeks of my life. I’d usually watch MSNBC videos on the second screen while the other one was showing the clouds above LS.

          I did like the racing in the game but the load time was too unbearable. I think I only logged like three hours into GTA online before I dropped it completely.
