I believe that these are manufactured eggs in order to minimize waste. Instead of wasting the ends, and the smaller slices with no or little yolk, the yolk and whites from eggs are separated and reunited to make uniform slices of boiled egg.

Nobody would serve this. Its for use in kitchens, canteens and restaurants

Hehe, obviously not, no. I usually look at these things in the perspective of “what if everyone did this”. Sometimes it makes a lot of sense (e.g., recycling), but not always.

I recycle my stuff. But if recycling is not done on the supply side, it’s pointless. I can throw my stuff in the right bin, as long as Coca-Cola does not use the material thus collected it can go anywhere, won’t work.

Don’t get me wrong, collective action works, it works very well, but usually not the ones that are lobbied for by big corps creating and profiting off the problem. And there is a ton of money going into telling you and me that “only if we did a bit more”, and “they only do it because there is a demand”.

Corporations act like they are all beholden to the market and making more money on the one side and say that only regulations can stop them boiling us alive, then lobby for deregulation on the other side because only they are moral and good enough to know what to do and “government interference” is just inefficient.

              Sorry, rant over.

I agree that corporations should be held to a higher standard and that too much responsibility is put on the consumers, but that does not mean that it’s pointless. There’s a lot of people on this planet. Be the change you’d like to see in the world, even if it feels pointless now and again.

Famines or not, 17% of all food available to consumers is wasted. That’s 900 million tons a year!

In the US, it’s much worse, with 30-40% of the entire food supply going to waste!

If you’re not going to be part of the solution, at least don’t be part of the problem.

You’re supposed to blow on it to force the yolk out, eat that first, then fuck the albumen, and consume that afterwards. At least that’s how it was taught to me.

They are for making “smørrebrød” in commercial kitchens. Basically nobody has these at home. We use normal hard boiled eggs, like everyone else. These exist solely to minimize waste when the “smørrebrød” needs to be “pretty”, with no slices of egg without yolk. And to save labour on peeling eggs.

You mean those little plastic containers with grapefruit or tangerines in checks notes artificially sweetened water?

I suppose the single serving version IS a bit wasteful but other countries do have those as well, they’re just slightly larger and come in tin cans instead.

                Garbage is an awesome band.

UK Garage was a bland electronic pop genre that sanitised the underground jungle and breakbeat music that was popular in the 1990s.

My guess is they’re used in industrial kitchens when preparing lunch for lots of people. You know, the same people who have 10L of egg-whites in the walk-in cooler. I can’t imagine regular people using them, they’re definitely not available in shops.

Boiled chicken eggs are where there is no, and if not a gourmet, when peeling eggs out, you will not distinguish the other American chicken eggs anywhere in Vietnam.
