    To be fair, I still prefer the ridiculousness of Lemmy censorship to the heavyhandedness of reddit’s, mainly because on Lemmy, it’s by design only enforceable on a per-instance basis.

        Sure, it’s always annoying but as long as there isn’t a single lever to ban you from EVERYWHERE it’s still better than any centralized platform. If the admin on one instance decides they don’t want my posts there, so be it, as long as they can’t ban me from other instances, too.

        And isn’t this kinda more like how real life works? An individual person, company, or institution can certainly ban you from their house or their premises for having an opinion on <political issue of the day> they don’t like, but as long as they can’t ban you from having that opinion elsewhere, it’s not really a big deal, is it?

        Only the government could enforce something like this, that’s why it’s important to never allow them to do that.

          Yeah I see your point, but it’s just shitty sometimes you get banned with no words on why.

          I’m only banned from two communities one was a full on cesspool of communist propaganda and the others lemmy world news
