    1. Do but make wise choices.

There’s plenty of worthwhile fields out there that require College Education. Those are wise choices. There’s also plenty of fields and degrees out there that are poor investments for your time or money. Avoid those.

Edit: For those of you wacking the downvote button I’d REALLY like an explanation of how in the hell you think all of the “stuff” that makes modern life so good is going to get created if no one goes to College. Everything from the chair your ass is sitting in to the device you’re using to downvote is the end result of an untold number of College Degree holders; everything from Forestry Management (wood) to Materials Scientists and Engineers to Electrical Engineers to Chemists and the Educators who train all of those people. The next time you pop an Advil or take an ADHD medication or put on a pair of prescription glasses you are being DIRECTLY impacted by literal legions of people with College Degrees.

Also be smart about where you do go. Don’t pay Ivy League prices for less than Ivy League education/networking. Take as many courses as you can at a community college, stay in state (usually cheaper), live with family while studying if you can, have a part time job that doesn’t interfere with your education (or even has enough downtime to work on schoolwork).

At no point did they say that. They just said there’s opportunities available to those who get college degrees. Much like there’s opportunities for those who go into trades, or strike out on their own without continuing education.

The existence of opportunities via one path does not preclude opportunities in another.

In your world where no one goes to College where do the Engineers and Scientists come from? Where do the Educators who teach them come from? What about Doctors and Nurses?

MOST of what’s good about our Modern World is built around things that require very high levels of domain specific knowledge. That’s what College is for.
