      Yeah, coz it’s a bad movie with nothing to say except “Journalism, important?”

      And don’t go starting on some tangent about how it’s an apolitical movie because that’s exactly why it’s bad

      Just gray sludge dressed up in the guise of enlightened centrism

        I’ve always really liked Alex Garland’s films even with their vaguely dubious politics, but Civil War was impressively shallow and dull.

        Especially considering he’d just made another movie with the structure of a group of people (with a heavy focus on female protagonists) venturing through increasingly dangerous and uncertain territory, Annihilation, in a quasi-warfare situation, in order to learn something about the world and themselves. And it was vastly superior.
