  • To be fair I was talking about degrading from bad updates not just any update. Also, what I think is the most notable detail is that these physical key carts are treated as if you bought a game on the eshop, and downloads the game on your Switch. Not even onto the cart itself.

Do these key carts even have any internal storage on it at all? Probably does, for confirmation purposes.

It really is just e-waste. Because look at what Nintendo has degraded physical media into. Might as well just buy it on the eshop just so you can play the game without worrying abut having the cart in the console. Since the key cart is literally not much different from the digital.

If they don’t restrict the key cart to one switch via a license, you might be right about selling digital games. Tbh I would prefer to sell a physical game, on the cart knowing that the game would always be available.

  • He banned you for a what seemed like a lot of different issue, but most notably, from you just saying your viewpoint (or the way you phrased your responses) and I don’t see a ban justified for this, however if there is even one rule you are actually violating they can ban you. I didn’t see anything personally wrong with the conversation on your side, you were mostly calm seeming and decent.

I think that the definition could exclude authoritarianism. However, the way it ended up implemented in popular examples people may point to, is what people see communism as being like. Possibly that’s what he might had felt about it as well base don some of his responses .

I don’t think correcting this perception of communism would require a specific type or form of communism, but rather just simply do vanilla communism upfront. What I mean by that is, without centralized authoritarianism. Communism by definition, is suppose to be stateless, and classless and a lack of currency. (lack of currency can be hard to achieve for imported goods, so I wouldn’t be as upset over that one not being perfect day one.) however, classless and stateless as a foundation shouldn’t be difficult. Achieving it in peace with everyone around might be another story, but actually applying it seems simple.

If some countries had actually applied it, then the issue was, there wasn’t a large number of them applying it this way and because of that, communism is known for being authoritarian to many, when it is not suppose to be like that.

  • From some of what I could tell the mod, goat likely thinks of communism as dictatorship due to various countries in history. I think an ideology should be based plainly on the ideology itself and people should’t judge an idealogy just based off of how it was abused.

If an ideology itself at its core is encouraging dictatorship then people won’t want to associate or talk in good faith. Even if it isn’t, if an ideology has a bad reputation, no one will want to risk it even if someone tells them that a variation is better.

I do believe the mod ‘goat’ might had had a negative bias against communism. Many do, and it’s just due to the association. Perhaps communists, and idk if you agree with this or not, but perhaps communist should start fresh, and create a newer, modern, and improved ideology for todays times. I believe for that as long that communist keep using the communist name with a bad rep, the chances of it going anywhere are minimal.

  • I liked watching some of these shows over the air tv with an antenna. (I appreciate all of the shows them) Trump defunding these shows isn’t doing free over the air antenna tv any favors, by removing one of the few kids targeting educational programs available on over the air.

Sure some locations has metv toons however PBS has some modern day tv shows that are constantly getting picked up by the channel. Carl the collector, is one show I think would be an interesting show to watch for many who collect things. It’s one of Pbs kid’s latest programs, and I’d why Trump would tear that and other animated productions down. (if he could.)

  • I stated that using Lemmy (the software/app) doesn’t / does not automatically mean you are supporting the original Lemmy devs. What I was mainly getting at was, when I said, “Since the software is open source the main simple, straight to the point difference is who is running what servers you are federated with.” but that also certainly extends to the the server you are on as well.

No one is saying stop using Lemmy over this, in my opinion, it’s because not one person or company owns all of Lemmy servers and communities. So the difference really lies with the specific people running your servers and communities. Can you trust them, can your instance provider trust them. Do you trust them or your instance provider.

    That is the difference.

  • If you are using the Lemmy software, which is open source, that is just an interface. (plus their are other Lemmy apps and web browser uis that aren’t maintained by the original Lemmy team. By not using their server that’s you dedicating resources into your own type of community that is govern differently and is clearly not the same as the default Lemmy.ml instance.

Since the software is open source the main simple, straight to the point difference is who is running what servers you are federated with. Using Lemmy also doesn’t automatically mean you are supporting the Lemmy devs since they are not profiting from ad revenue. They would ask for donations.

  • If there is content on defederated instances users want access to they can make accounts on other servers.

Not to automatically assume that these users want to see hateful content, but as generally small that Lemmy is, some users might feel that defederating from such a massive server not worth the lack of content and communication. Blahaj does great with protecting trans users I appreciate this, but I would suggest to consider the overall health of Lemmy overall and what such a drastic action might have on their own community. Could it results on the communities activity to decline due to less interaction?

There might be some bad communities and some other good ones on lemmy.ml, with activity and if the largest servers are defederated, now users will have to make multiple accounts on other servers and hope that they can see certain content, when it use to be if they wanted to make multiple accounts just because.
