do you know you can also convert subreddit into RSS feeds ? don’t know if it will work after 1 july but it’s an option
yes, i began to test : some post are real advertising and are annoying. You should be more selective on the RSS sources
Believe me, these 3 rules work for everybody and whatever your age.
good idea : you can have a look to ‘beehaw’ instance comminities : it can be a good base for your project
i use jerboa on android. use a mobile app for lemmy is a game changer. Good news for ios user
I don’t think so : in mastodon, people knows they can federate. After trial and error process, they choose their instance based on reliability, moderation and the topics inside.
I think lemmy/kbin will follow the same path.
i created a lemmy community about backpacking 3 years ago, at the birth of lemmy : only 3 users! Since one week, there are much more post and comments. Thank you reddit ! i love you.
i also switch to RSS for topics i don’t want to interact with (politics…) I use lemmy with jerboa for everything else now
as a french who learn english, i confirm french is just an horrible language to learn : too many rules, exception, accent… English is not perfect and could be simplified though.
reddit ? what is it ? a new platform ? is there anybody here who knows what it is ?
i miss some reddit communities, but for a basic usage, lemmy/jerboa replaces reddit without problem.
there is a trend now : big $ don’t want 3rd party apps any more. May be the next is youtube : block individious, block newpipe…
i wonder if all this big social platform will not end with lots of fake profile feeded with chatgpt. For your information, I’m NOT a chatgpt comment 😜
well, i don’t want to be rude, i’m not communist or capitalist, just an average guy and i respect every political views, But when your alias/name is ‘communist’, i think you just obtain the opposite of what you want. I agree with you : federation is missunderstood and if people doesn’t want an instance with political bias, they can choose another one.
a few days i use jerboa daily : it’s not perfect but i can deal with all the restrictions
But i really miss an option to make all post as ‘read’ with a single button Just a suggestion for the next release. Thank you for your great work
The possibility to follow hashtags in mastodon is a real progress : i just follow a few account but i like following hashtags on mastodon/pixelfed and may be tomorrow peertube. lemmy suffer from lack of contents. I hope it will improve in the comming months
As long as a hardware will be sold with microsoft/google/twitter/facebook by default, no chance fediverse replace all these well-established applications. BUT it’s not a problem for me : i use what i like, open-source, and i let other use what they want.
