You cost them money to serve your queries but don’t make them any money provided you just browse and do not comment/post/vote
kebab@endlesstalk.orgOPto World News@lemmy.world•Pope Leo slams 'barbarity' of Gaza war as Israeli gunfire kills at least 93 at aid pointEnglish43·2 days agoAbsolutely. War is “a state of armed conflict between different countries or different groups within a country”. It’s an armed conflict between Israel and Palestine indeed. You can give it other bigger names too but it certainly fulfills the definition of a war as well

kebab@endlesstalk.orgto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•how many people came to this platform due to leaving / being banned from Reddit?English3·2 days agoCame here after my niche small Reddit client got officially shut down. When the API changes were announced, I knew that I’d rather switch than use their official Reddit client. I didn’t like that they charge AI companies for accessing my data and I don’t get any share of their profit neither. Here on Lemmy everyone can train their AI models on our data but at least there’s no random dude (spez) who profits off that.
The decentralization meaning that I can choose some random small instance and not be bound to the admins of any big one was another big point for Lemmy

But the real base of supporters is in the churches; they do repeat what he said once a month or so and pray together for it to turn into reality

kebab@endlesstalk.orgto News@lemmy.world•Travelers to the U.S. must pay a new $250 'visa integrity fee'English262·4 days agoThe headline is misleading.
- It’s a refundable deposit
- It’s not for all travelers but only for those on non-immigrant visas. Most notably, does not apply for ESTA travelers
You probably meant “the Art of the Deal”

While they aren’t the ones to fuel the conflict with China and it’s China who can prevent the war. Taiwan doesn’t want to go to war with China, so implying that they could do something to end the conflict which is one-sided is blaming them for China’s imperialistic ambitions

kebab@endlesstalk.orgto Europe@feddit.org•Taiwan's Ambassador to the EU: "Taiwan has never been part of the People’s Republic of China"English2·4 days agoYep. I just don’t think victim-blaming is a right thing to say in this case; it’s not Taiwan threatening China but China threatening Taiwan
