The problem is it shouldn’t be a blight because its impossible to prevent bad actors from using an actually private and secure messaging app.
So the act of reporting on it is a smear because most don’t understand or acknowledge the impossibility of preventing those bad actors.
Signal if you trust them to not leak your identifier and because its gotten the most mass adoption.
Simplex if you can convince your circle to use it because it has no identifiers and is user friendly.

5·9 days agoI thought it was a hurdle, but I’m here.
I left the first time though because I couldn’t decide, even though I knew of and believed in the benefits of decentralization.
Even now I sometimes think the instance I joined was a mistake and have anxiety about choosing a new one and also about moving to it.
Note this also builds oci compatible containers you can run with podman, kubernetes, etc.
It lets you develop on bare metal in an environment the same as the docker container and is reproducible rather than just repeatable.

Use https://grapheneos.org/ and it sandboxes Google play for you, but ironically requires a Google Pixel phone.

3·29 days agoIf you aren’t gaming, you don’t care about performance past giving CPU/RAM enough resources to VM.
If you are multiplayer gaming and unwilling to give it up or be very tech savvy, VM isn’t an option.
