These baltic states were just vassals of Germany and once were part of Russian empire till 1918 when Lenin signed the Brest treaty and gave up a chunk of lands to German protection. Western Ukraine was also taken away by Poland I guess. So in Molotov pact they just reversed it with some assurance that USSR will not attack if Nazi Germany attacks Poland . I remember I didn’t know that baltic States were under Russian empire until I watched an old video of Putin angrily replying this to a Latvian journo in early 2000s. Why Baltics have strong Nazi memories is due to that only, they were nazified with German influence.

In our case the top leadership was socialistic but it was the people who were fed up of constant violence in the state. Violence happened due to ultra left parties/Maoists who started murdering our cadres and peasants and the grand effect of media. The media propaganda was totally against CPIM in it’s last years (they were never pro CPM) . Also after 2013 India got nazified along the lines of Hindutva. Most hindu bengalis are now staunch supporter of fascism. So, the bourgeoisie parties radicalized the muslim population to betray the communists and Hindus after all the violence and media propaganda chose hindutva politics. That’s how CPM never came back post 2014.
