I’m a hobby dev that’s used SpringRTS and Godot, my advice when starting out is to scale down as low as you can on your first project. I don’t know how UE is for 2D, but think like, a pong clone or snake clone. Games usually involve teams of people, lots of them experienced and specialized in modeling or textures or rigging or shaders or scripts or animation.

Don’t take a big bite that’s going to have you learning a dozen new things at once. Just start with enough that your game can launch, receive inputs, and track score. Then try adding some more complicated rules, like power ups for snake, or different balls with different physics for pong.

Just getting simple things to work the way you want will give you the dopamine to continue. :)

Also I recommend git and gitlab for version control, that way you can play around and if something breaks you can revert to a working version.

People missing the really obvious answer: Musk pays people to worship post about him, and can take direct control of those accounts when he wants (IE to defend himself in person on call).

I think it’s important because for the average stream watcher, it’s destroying the capitalist myth that wealthy people are somehow really smart and competent and earned their wealth. It’s possible that Adrian is a superfan to such an extent that it’s made him sick in the head and he basically believes he is Elon Musk, and the tweeting timing is just a coincidence.

It’s also possible that having obscene wealth like hundreds of billions of dollars makes you sick in the head, and makes you think you’re the smartest person in the room when you’re a spoiled rotten nepo baby whose Daddy owned emerald mine slaves in apartheid South Africa and you happened to invest your stolen wealth into the right places while stealing credit for the work of smarter people.

In all honesty, probably not nearly as much as you think. Democrats aren’t exactly making any effort to pretend to be against genocide or neocolonialism. They make a tiny bit of lip service towards social progressivism, and considering that Republicans are explicitly pro-trans-genocide, that bar is so low it’s currently sitting in hell.

It’s all just theatre anyway. Policy doesn’t matter anymore, both parties are subservient to venture capitalism, just donning different aesthetics to appeal to different groups. Like the GOP will don a white nationalist aesthetic, but they love immigrants as a source of exploitable labor. The DNC will adopt a pro-minority aesthetic, but they love sending rainbow painted bombs to kill brown kids overseas.

Politics is just play, Capital is power.

We are endlessly destructive aliens of consumption. We are the Tyranids, we are the Flood, we are the Replicators (Stargate not Star Trek).

It’s actually a good thing for the universe that our species will probably die on this planet, if we ever eached a spacefaring stage we would wreck havoc on the galaxy.
