I didn’t use to do that. My family was never one to put anything on eggs. I spent a lot of time at my best friend’s house between about 4th and 12th grade, as well as during college. She is part Latina. Her family puts ketchup and tapatio on eggs. I thought this was so unusual, until I tried it one day. I’m a fan of putting condiments on eggs now. My husband used to put ranch on his eggs. In fact, he puts ranch on everything: Pizza, eggs, and even saltine crackers. I’ll stick with ketchup.
I find that it’s good on eggs if you don’t have anything else in it, like cheese, onions, ham, etc… Otherwise the tanginess overpowers all the extra in my opinion, unless it’s an egg sandwich. Your friend is wise beyond her years because hot sauce and ketchup is the shit. Your ex is a psychopath though, ranch is just taking things too far.
