From the outside, I see one giant, gaping, insane hole in the whole bathroom problem that terfs claim to have. I say claim, because I’m not convinced they genuinely think it would be a problem as much as they’re just being assholes and looking for an excuse.

That hole is that they never bother to apply the same idea to trans men. If there’s so much fear of trans women being predatory, why the lack of fear of trans men being forced to use women’s bathrooms?

That points to it just being an excuse to be assholes.

If trans women are so dangerous because they “used to be” men, and all that testosterone and whatnot made them predators by default, then the same would have to apply to trans men.

That’s why I can’t buy their bullshit. Just doesn’t hold up to the most basic examination as a real issue. That means it’s just a thin veneer to pretend not to be bigots. So, fuck them :)

I think part of the excuse is, if we allow visibly trans women to use the bathroom, then non-trans predators will put on a dress and wig to go in there. But what I’ve never understood, if they’re not concerned with violating another person, why would they be concerned with appearing to belong in that bathroom?

I’ve argued with at least one who said that trans women and trans men should both be forced to use the men’s bathroom, since their point is “protecting women”. Which is even more discriminatory, and even more patronizing to women, but at least addresses the point, I suppose.

Most will just pull some variant of the “we can always tell” bullshit though.

Nah. Most of them are plenty tall for the average person. The problem with American stalls is that there are always large cracks in the door that you can see though in case of a fire or other emergency. You can see people walk by while pooping and someone could theoretically look through the crack to watch you poop.
